I'm on a friends and family scheme with them as a friend works for them...I'm paying more than some of you?!

They say they can never offer anything better as its a F&F deal so no further discounts can be applied.

I wonder if I start the cancel procedure I'd get offered a better deal

Same for me - hence I'm going to cancel and see what happens.

I'm also on a Friends and Family deal, but since they stopped itemising their bills it's impossible to see what the discount is. Can't be much as i'm paying around £80 without Sky Sports or movies.

Will be interested to see what deals you get offered.

The new customer deal for the full house bundle is £55 month for 12 months then £76/month after that.

I currently pay £68/month so a grand saving of £8 and I don't have a V6 box, just the TiVo one.

I have asked them if I can get a V6 box and the Hub 3.0

Basically no unless I pay £70 odd "one off fees" and then upgrade to vision 200 at extra monthly cost too.

Have put in a cancel request and will see what happnes

Im shocked at what some are paying here!
You've got to have the balls to cancel and be prepared to follow it through to get the good deals.
Just asking for a better deal doesnt generally work.
Cancelling is no risk at all.. From the day you give notice to cancel in takes 30 days for them to terminate services.

If by any chance by day 30 they have not offered you a better deal then you can call up and say I want to stay..

Finally got round to sorting this out. £104 with the full house bundle and 200mbps line with 2 additional boxes & anytime calls. If I went with the new offer of £55 p/m it works out to £98. I also got £50 credit for the installation cost and get a new superhub to.

Problem is, the e-mail confirmation shows £113 and only 1 additional box, so back on the phone with them later

Well they don't want my business. I'm on basic 50mb and line, they insist I should be paying £40/month and the retention team cannot access the £32/month deal for same service open to new clients. Only been with them since 2002...

John Lewis, copper broadband and phone line = £25/month with no installation fee. Bit slower c.38-44mb/s but almost 40% cheaper.

Bit sad it came to this, well done VM.

Is that just on your first call or after a call back within the disconnection period ?

Now in the cancellation period. Seemed very final. Enough for me to get the alternative quote...

Hah, hah. It gets better and better.

Figure I will get the copper install scheduled a week or 2 in advance of the fibre being cut so it reduced likelihood of any downtime.

TechieDave, looks like you had a fairly good result in the end. Maybe they come good...

They tried ringing me after 4 days but I couldn't take the call so it was then around a week later. They said what they would do and they said they would apply the line save immediately. They did as the first payment since those calls acme out today. It was less than the amount on last months bill and exactly what they said it would be.

Will hold my nerve and make provisions for an alternative supplier a bit nearer the deadline. I guess the line number request kicks them over too...

Mine took 4 days from requesting the cancellation and I didn't have to do the line number request. First new bill came in at exactly what they said it would smile

Would be surprised if John Lewis didn't meet the speed, they are not in the business of over promising and have a brand to protect.

we are on vm 75mb bb only. Tried to get a hub 3.0 as our 2.0 keeps going wrong. Computer says no.

We don't have a phone line but I think it is time to cancel and see what happens as we only get offered a small discount each time come renewal.

After leaving virgin in January, ahead of our monthly payment, we were told to keep the payment open and then cancel the DD once we had paid for our last month / notice period. We did this and now virgin are demanding payment for this month too.... bds

Just checked how much I actually pay, and its £25 (broadband only without phone) assumed it was more as have seen a few announcements for price increases.

Signed up for the bottom speed package at the time, but living in a city means they have upgraded me over the years without asking and speed test just now was 70Mbps (wifi) so doesn't seem much point calling retentions.

Goes to £40 thereafter, will shop around in 11 months.
