Well worth calling them up.

Currently just on the 100meg internet only at £43 pm

Letter landed saying going up £3.50 so called them.

Staying on same service same package £29 per month tied in for 18 months.

Just tried calling them up, asked to be matched to what new customers are paying (£39.99 for the same package) nearest they could get was £48

So I've cancelled, hoping for a call back with a better deal.

Called me back today and offered my same 350 meg + basic TV deal for £41 (£1 more than a new customer) but with more channels and a 5G SIM card.

Sounds like a win.

Mirrors my conversation with them last week pretty much exactly

Our contract ends mid April........full works package (discounted as a new user 15 months ago)..........when is best time to start "negotiating" with them?

Was £33, got the £3.50 update.

Called Virgin up, we spoke and agreed £28.50/m. When the paperwork came through it was on there as £25. So looks looks they also took the £3.50 off the £28.50 we'd agreed too.

£25/m for 18 months 100mb and talk weekend package. Phone only used for inbound calls.

Just cancel when you can (1 month before end of contract) and they'll call you back with a much better deal than you can get any other way.

I think it goes up in Mar by the 3.50. that's what the person I spoke to said.

Just had my contract note come through having cancelled on Tuesday and them calling back Weds to discuss a retention deal.

Currently on 200mb broadband with Maxit TV and the weekend call package. Been paying £59 for a year, they're pushing it up to £86.50 incl. the £3.50 increase. Best deal offered when I called was £68.

So I cancelled. And now will be paying £44 for the same for 18 months... I'll take that.

My contract expires end of Jan - am on basic TV, 100 Broadband and weekend calls currently £35 month. Will go up to £62 a month on expiration! Just spoke to "Loyalty" team who offered same package for £46 a month. Not such a painful increase but said I would keep my options open...

Basic TV is not much cop, might be better off ditching it and getting a Freeview or Freesat box. Then 100mb BB for £28/m

Yep, given the deals some are getting above, I'd phone up the 0800 number mentioned above and say you're thinking of leaving. Look at current similar offers from Vodafone, Sky and BT. Look on the Meerkats site. Be prepared to leave.

Ah, still happy but I do have a legal contract with new terms to argue with :-)

The frustrating bit is to get the best deal you have to go through the cancellation process, then they call you and you give you a much better deal....

Annoyed that I got the £4 price increase email, after agreeing a fixed price for 18 months in November. After a wait of 40 mins on the 0800 number, got through to someone that said the price rise applies to everyone and I should have been told that when I signed up. I wasn't. So after "speaking to his manager" put an additional discount on my account to cover it.

Asked about the spam calls from 0800 052 1251. Was told they are NOT Virgin calls, nothing to do with them, and a number of people have complained. Have now blocked the number.

Yes its in the letter it's march
The other thing to point out is that there was confusion in the foreign call centre who were sometines the first line of defence anyone ringing up about the increase spoke to.
Basically this week you got the letter. Up to Wednesday/ Thursday if you rang to complain and used option 4 - leaving for another reason you were greeted by a pre recorded announcement that went something like:
"If you are calling about a price increase letter you got we are pleased to say we can credit the amount of £*** for 6 months. To take advantage of this press whatever number button they used but if you want to speak to someone plaese hold and you will be transferred to an agent
If you were transferred to this foreign based centre then:

The problem was one call centre based abroad was telling people who had recently recontracted/ contracted recently that they DIDNT have to pay this amount because they were on a new contract.
However if you were then still unhappy they would transfer you to UK based retentions and they would then say it applies to EVERYONE
It was a simple poor communication error by a call centre and I think its likely to cause problems for anyone who then thought yea that fine and hung up as come march they will be finding the increase on their bills.

£*** is because it wasnt a fixed amount its apercentage cost to what you are payng now

Yep. The words used to me when I agreed my fixed 18m contract were "a fixed price of £xx", but in reality if I look at my contract it's a "discount of £xx", so yep an increase would apply, but the discount stays the same.

Currently on 200mb for £26 a month. A £21 a month loyalty discount applied.

Called up and was offered £32 best deal. I’ve said I’ll cancel and will go with BT...
