It still baffles me why they go through the rigmarole / run around with us!

Hi.
Just signed up to this forum so I can add my deal. I found it very helpful looking on here, to know what to expect when I cancelled.

So I cancelled yesterday. Had a phone call within 24 hours and got the following offer straight up. No haggling they offered it straight off.

M100 fibre broadband for £16. (18 month contract)

Im usually up for a haggle, but I just accepted that. I can't see me getting that much lower to be honest!

I hope that this post may help some people.

Nice going!

Were you near the end of your previous contract?

Anyone have the direct number for the retention team please as cannot seem to find it, all I can find is 03454541111 which seems the normal number with the usual menus.

Kudos

Just had a rather odd call with them. Called to cancel as bill bow £36.66, before the next price rise. I’ve 100mb broadband and landline (not used).

They offered me a discount to £43. Huh??

Got put through to next line and an agressive person. “BT or that company you are thinking of going to, their broadband isn’t as good as ours”

Let’s see if I get a call in a day or two

I turned down the retentions teams offer of 100Mb for £23 18-month contract or 200Mb for £29 18-month contract.
That's only £3 less than a new customer would pay, and I've been with them 15 years now. There will be a £3 price rise no doubt in the coming months. Hopefully I'll get another call, as it stands I leave on March 9th.

Interesting - my agreed retention price was fixed (no price rises at all) for the 18-month contract.

Surely a customer calling retentions weakens the negotiating position somewhat!

My brother earlier today got a deal to go from £60 for 80Mb (IIRC) to 200Mb for £40 including phone. Didn't think that was a bad deal.

Last summer all the local roads were dug up and FTP was installed but not virgin. We currently pay £38pm for 350mbps down and 36mbps up. Was looking to upgrade that next month to the 500mb package with virgin.

Leaflet through the door today I can get the new FTP 900mbps up 900mbps down free router no install fees and a 12 month rolling contract for £40pm!

About time we had some competition with virgin should help drive costs down.

If there is another price rise you will be as subject to it as anyone else. You can argue the toss with them when (and if) it happens.

Just had them call again, different person from retentions. She offered me 200Mb 18 months for £22 a month which I’m happy with.
Last retentions caller was male, seemed almost annoyed with me on the phone.

They are given a target and the basic way foreward is to offer you as little bit off as possible
I have had the "well no ones as good as us routine" but I have always countered that by saying well X upload and Y download will satisfy what i need etc

One of the things they counter with is your useage
Downloaded x amount - true
You made x amount of phone calls that would have cost you £ if you didnt have their 59 minute inclusive call thingey - true but allowed for in the laternative price plans I have looked at
And lastly You have watched x amount of TV - NOT true. they can aonly calculate that by the length of time you have the V6 box on and receiving a channel. One girl couldn't get it in her head that the box was only used to watch ITV 4 +1 and was just left switched on all the time
