So far so good for me. Migrated everything over from my iPhone 6S and installed AirDroid to do the syncing of movies and other files from my Mac. Irritating that Android File Transfer doesn't work.... But hey.
Still getting used to the keyboard. My error rate is higher than anticipated. Modified the brodit car mount to accept the S8+ cable too - saves another £40.
The only downside i can think of is the way that seemingly every application has about a billion things to say every day whereas my iPhone is considerably quieter. Will. Everyone digging in to the settings to make it so.

Oh and that bixby button would've been better as a physical mute. Not used bixby yet - don't really see the attraction.

Update came out last night fixing "performance related issues" and a few other items.

Does the SD card slot double as dual SIM?

Thanks for this. I have the Nexus 6 and the S8+ looks a bit narrow. I'n not sure how things will display on a long narrow screen. i guess for most people its the width that is a problem, not the length (fnarr fnarr hehe)

I'm hoping the Note 8 is wider otherwise I'll stick with my Nexus 6
I actually really like the fact that the S8+ is narrower than the other phablet phones, makes it much easier to hold in one hand.
The aspect ratio is great for reading through messages, web browsing etc. and also small things like the keyboard takes up less of the screen space when it pops up. However some games don't run full screen and you get a black bar at the top.

Hold down on the home screen, swipe left to the bixby screen and disable it at the top

That doesn't disable the button, just the swipe left home screen pane. Could try a button remapping tool like BixRemap. Rumour has it Samsung has locked it down tight..

Samsung have blocked the ability to re-map the Bixby button via an over the air update.

Coming across as really desperate to force this on people.

For me it's not so much that I don't want Bixby, I just press the button whenever I try to lock the screen or turn the volume down. Muscle memory from my last phone I guess so I just need to adapt as disabling Bixby has no effect on the button for me either.

It is annoying. Especially getting the phone in / out of my pocket normally presses the button.

WHY FORCE IT ON US?

It's a wonderful phone aside from that.

Is anyone else finding that the background apps close a lot? Don't think it should really happen that much with 4GB of RAM, maybe there's some power saving setting that needs to be changed?

Has anyone found a decent screen protector that will work with a case (Spigen tougharmour in my case).

I have some but they are plastic film type and a pain and peel off around the corners with the curved screen.

Found a few but seem to be in the states mostly, and only one in the UK but at £24 .... no thanks!

I've smashed mine already. It was delivered on Thursday and dropped on Sunday - what a tit. Fell out of my pocket on to the tiled bathroom floor frown

£30.00 excess on the insurance to get it fixed so no real drama but it still pissed me off. Funnily enough, the screen isn't quite as impressive with a couple of dirty cracks across it!

Great phone though - really impressed with how quick it is.

Anyone bought and used the Dex dock? It actually seems useful - my use case would be responding to emails and looking at presentations / documents on a slightly larger screen in perhaps a hotel room.

Prices on it seem to be dropping already.

I've ordered it off Amazon for just over £100, but there seems to be a delay in them getting stock. I'm due to get it in a couple of weeks

Scratched mine today not quite as bad as you tho, rather stupidly slid it across the table at uni to show someone something and scratched all the back! They do scratch very easily it seems
