Seriously, why?
Honestly, I dunno. I meant to take it off ages ago, then it slipped down the list of even vaguely important things to do so I forgot about it. Maybe i'll have a rock n roll evening and take it off tonight.. wink

Had one for nearly 2 weeks now, sure am glad I bought the flip case for it, given the scratches appearing on the case!

Still a work in progress with all my settings and layout etc, but am enjoying it. Did get confused as to why when the alarm goes off in the morning, after dismissing the alarm it seems to play my notification sound (I haven't got it on do not disturb), almost like its telling me that I know you are awake so I will wake up now, also one night I was checking it before I went to sleep and a box appeared on the screen saying something like 'it looks like you are going to bed' that was freaky, how did it know?

Still a lovely phone, lots to play with on it, and it fits just right in my girly hands

It's a great phone, picked one up after my Nexus 6P died.

Only thing thats annoying me is that it will not automatically reconnect to my bluetooth headphones.

I have to open settings everytime I want to connect to them

Has anyone else experienced this?

So my Nexus 5x has died, properly, won't turn on, makes it to the Google loading screen, then turns off again.

Anyway, looking to replace it with one of these, I've found it here for a suspiciously cheap price, anyone used these before:

Still enjoying mine and definitely the nicest phone I've had to date, however I have a couple of moans:

1. Bixby - I still can't seem to get out of the habit of pressing the button instead of the volume down or squeezing it in error when I'm pressing the power button.
I had the same problem - this sorted it. An app that remaps the button, I set it to go to the homescreen.

I'll give it a whirl, it forces you to disable secure start-up but I'm pretty sure I'll live with that smile

Bit of an odd one, picture of my charger
See it's blistered all over, anyone else's suffered with this? Mines been through the wars a bit, the kittens we have like to play with chargers/headphones but I don't think they've blistered the finish on the charger

Considering one of these myself - although might go for the plus.

My 3 year old S5 does everything I want - except that it is constantly running out of space (16GB) despite moving as much as possible to the SD card. ~£700 is a chunk of cash just to avoid that annoyance, but I am still tempted - although setting up a new phone is a pain. I use Nova Launcher on the S5 which I assume will still work on the S8, but I guess I may have to give up using Tasker with such a new version of Android.

Ah, thanks. I've got less of my profiles enabled these days than I used to have but would miss the few I do so that's good to know.

Just went to take a look at one, and it does appear to be a lovely phone.... Although the EE lady did look at me as if I'd escaped from an insane asylum when I said that I'd be buying the phone outright if I decided to buy one. (And obviously it wouldn't be from an EE shop anyway).

Have you taken the protective plastic wrap off it?

Well, yesterday evening I decided to buy an S8+ from Prime Now.

Great idea, until I realised it's a nano-sim, and hence the micro sim in my S5 won't fit (and no, it's not one where I can pop the middle out) so will have to visit an EE shop today.

However - lack of sim didn't stop me setting it up so didn't really make that much difference. First impressions :

Read lots of reviews which said the fingerprint scanner was rubbish and in completely the wrong place - but I find it perfect. I simply slide my index finger across the back until I find the sensor and it unlocks perfectly every time (in fact, so perfectly I'm wondering just how secure it really is!).

Screen is gorgeous although aspect ratio is a little odd at first.

No music player - a quick search suggests I have to use Play Music player or download something else. At the moment, all my music is on the SD card which is still in the S5 so will play with this when I have a SIM.
For some reason it took several attempts at deleting / creating my outlook account to get contacts and calendar to sync. Email did straight away - think it's because of the stupid email Samsung send about using Outlook, and giving permission to use the other mail app. But even clicking on "use a different mail app" doesn't seem to solve the problem until you delete and re-create the account.

Haven't installed Tasker yet, but did stick Nova Launcher on straight away so I can fit a bit more on the screen.

Will need to use the cable to copy some stuff from my old phone - but last night it wouldn't let me because I didn't have enough space on my old phone to create a backup file. Great - the lack of memory is why I'm ditching it in the first place! I don't want most things transferred anyway but do want messages.

Interesting to note that this morning, the phone has used 13.9GB of internal storage. Which kind of proves why my old 16GB phone wasn't cutting it. At least I have 50GB free now and most other rubbish will go on my SD card anyway.

Ordered a wireless charger, and some USB adapters so I can still use all the cables I have at home. Guess I probably need to order a case too but never been a big fan of them and my S5 has survived without one.

First impression is positive though - which it needs to be having just spent £700 so that I don't get bothered with "not enough memory to....." messages.

Messages - try SMS Backup + from the store.

Stick it on both, backup from the S5 to Gmail, and then vice versa on the S8. One of my MustHaves smile

I've got the Spigen Thin Fit in black, nice and thin and the cut out around the FPS means you find it even easier.

Anyone just found Samsung Pay now works?

The samsung app copied everything across I needed, so that worked pretty well.

Got a sim at lunchtime yesterday, so started using the phone normally. So far, still pretty impressed.

Like the always on display and love wireless charging. I bought a charger for next to the bed. and have ordered a couple of mats which should turn up today - one for work and one for next to the sofa at home. The idea that I can simply dump my phone where it's normally placed and it's charging is cool.

I've installed tasker and backed up / restored my profiles but so far haven't enabled it - the newer version of Android / Samsung s/w has made some of it redundant. For example, I had a reminder profile which let me set reminders which would occur at specific time / day - the S8+ has a reminder app built in which is better, I can even set reminders to trigger when I get home.

I wasn't convinced that spending that kind of money was really very sensible since I only really wanted to avoid memory errors (and the slow down lack of memory caused) - generally I was happy with the S5. But so far, the S8+ really is a much nicer phone and it seems it wasn't such a bad idea after all.

I've been using my iPhone 7 for personal and business and a OnePlus 3T for my Portugal home.

Now I've moved to Portugal full-time, I've been finding carrying 2 phones a pain so placed the UK SIM into my dual SIM OnePlus and the iPhone became obsolete! A friend offered to buy it for £400 so I let it go.

I then looked at the OnePlus 5 yesterday but really liked the Samsung S8+ when having a look at one shopping at Algarve Shopping earlier today so ordered a dual sim S8+ from eGlobal online for £544. Used them plenty of times over the years for camera stuff - Canon 5D Mk IV etc so trust the service.

Looking forward to getting it now.
