Samsung Galaxy S8
Discussion
I've just ordered an S8 plus from amazon, upgrading from a Oneplus 2. Went for the LED case as well, although I've had diztronic cases and glass protectors on my last two Oneplus phones.
Anyone tried the whitestone dome glass screen protector? If I don't get on with the LED case (main concern is it's a folio case, which is a departure from the norm for me), I'll get a diztronic case and the whitestone protector.

I bought the LED case for my S8+ but used it about twice and took it off.
It's pretty useless - when you close the cover, the time shows for a couple of seconds but then it goes off because the phone knows it's now got a covered front screen, so even with "always on" display it won't show the time.
It also doesn't stay closed - so if you do drop the phone, there is a good chance the cover will open and it will land on its screen anyway.
Wish I hadn't bothered - waste of money for me.

Missus was going to get the S8+ but decided to get the Note 8 for some reason.
Tried to convince her the S8+ was a petter phone (based on bigger battery and same hardware)
I went to look at the Note but the screen is the same size as the S8+ and its slightly less nice in design terms. And a fair bit cheaper.Tried to convince her the S8+ was a petter phone (based on bigger battery and same hardware)

I guess the beauty of amazon is no quibble returns in that respect then! The case has come today, but the phone will be tomorrow or Wednesday most likely. It's pretty useless - when you close the cover, the time shows for a couple of seconds but then it goes off because the phone knows it's now got a covered front screen, so even with "always on" display it won't show the time.

Out of curiosty, hows everyones battery life? Mines getting a bit crappy, think snapchat is draining a lot
Doesn't last a day the way I use it... But quick charging takes away a lot of battery life anxiety these days, and I always carry around a battery pack in my gym bag just in case anyway.Mr Happy said:

Guess what's going back to Amazon!... I've ordered a whitestone dome protector and spigen neo hybrid case. Simply can't get on with the folio form factor.Well a Black Friday deal has come along to get me on board, and it's a contract! To quote myself from here: What android around £400 mark

...now I've gone for a Black Friday contract deal on a Samsung S8, £25 upfront and £29 monthly for a black S8 on O2 with 12GB data and unlimited talk/text https://www.mobiles.co.uk/samsung-galaxy-s8. My current SIM only on EE is £15 p/m for 6GB data/500 mins/unlimited text.
I haven't been on a contract phone for years, been SIM free and paying up front for a handset. Anyways, the S8 should arrive on Wednesday, then I'll have to do the PAC code business to transfer my number. After that, happy days!Well I've just jumped ship from an iPhone 7 (went Nokia N95 -> 2g, 3g, 3gs, 4, 4s, 5, 5s, 6, 6s, 7), so it's all new to me.
The iPhone X was tempting, but the new gestures seemed a poor implimentation.
So for less outlay I picked up a S8+, Gear S3, Gear VR, 256GB sd card .. and still have enough for the Gear 360 when I can be bothered.
First impressions. Copy process was easy-ish. Took half a day to copy messages, and my music was just lumped into one directory (all 120GB of it) instead of Artist/Album/Song.
Big phone, great screen, not too different to iOS (I'd been cutting back on the JailBreak tweaks etc, and just using core functions).
Seems a little laggy when scrolling between apps etc. Unlocking is a little slow at times too. Losing iMessage is a pain, was nice to have it on the iPhone/iPad/Mac together.
Gmail, Play Music and Play Store apps are worse than Apple defaults. Why Samsung deliver it with all their versions as well, I don't know.
Bixby remapped. Was very annoying.
Gear S3 is better connected to Android. Waiting for WatchLand to get updated for Tizen3.
Gear VR Rollercoaster gave me a banging headache, but is a cool concept.
Happy so far. Will keep it till the S9 is out, or the iPhone Xs improves things.
Just need to now work out how to hook it up to AppleTv etc.

Anyone else have issues with slow charging using the supplied charger and cable?
Mine has suddenly started popping up the slow charging warning, Google suggests a widespread issue with the supplied cable.
Fast charge enabled in the settings.
Mine looks perfect but clearly something isn't right, I don't have another one to try but it's fine on the wireless charger.

Make sure the cable ia plugged into the charger fully and the charger is fully into the wall.Mine has suddenly started popping up the slow charging warning, Google suggests a widespread issue with the supplied cable.

Had it a few times and always been that.
Never had issue with the supplied cable myself.

A test that should say "I put her in her seat comes out as " I out her in her dear
It's driving me insane.
Eta that should say text not test ffs, point made.
