At present I don't think the phone as computer thing will catch on. You need a keyboard, mouse and docking station to carry around for this. If you need to carry that around, why not carry a laptop?

Maybe in the future it could work with universal connections between normal PC's and phones but at present I think we're a little way off.
And you've been able to do that for years anyway.

My Nokia 808 - HDMI output, connect a keyboard and mouse and it could be used for (painful) document editing on a bigger screen.

Android has supported keyboard and mouse for years, and if you've got a device with HDMI output you can do this sort of thing now (like my cheapo Bush tablet). Its niche, and nobody really cares.

This goes beyond unified, you can convert the code almost seemlessly (seemless for most functions). Visual Stuido is going to help drive more app support as vs is probably the best dev platform for mobile
Thats the theory.

In practice barely anyone has actually done it. And you do realise why, don't you? Its because there are effectively no devices out there for the applications to be run on.

MS have a great interface in W10M, but they've pretty much pulled the entire MS range of phones, leaving just the HP Elite and the Alcatel Idol 4S. And neither of those is particularly what you'd call an enticing device.

My money is on AR/VR. It's still the very early stages but I think AR will become an everyday facet of life in the way that making calls and sending text messages have become.
Agree with this. 4k screen + VR headset means a decent experience can be had through mobile. I understand the eye tracking tech on the S8 also works with VR, to give an even more realistic expereince. That said I think VR still has a way to go before it becomes aminstream, but for the majority it will come from mobile use rather than dedicated devices.

I have ran my 630 for a good few years and was looking for a 930/5 but they are nowhere. Is that why?

a 650 for around £100 would be a great replacement. Not sure I would spend the money on a 950, as things stand.
That's the thing, the phones are cheap but bloody fantastic! the 950 quite simply blew the apple stuff and best of Android out of the water, I might look at the 650 as I need W10 for some testing. Good shout and 200 quid cheaper but 300 for the 950 is fantastic vfm

You are confusing photo framing with film
Not at all. The only reason you wouldn't frame video in the same way as you do photos is because you're looking at it from a historical expectation of only viewing the output in landscape mode.

If you remove that limitation - as you can with a phone or tablet simply by moving it round 90 degrees - then it makes no sense to treat video and photo framing any differently.

We need more bandwidth than 5g. In many areas 4g is oversubscribed.

Where are we at with folding OLED displays? Would have thought a 3x2" phone that unfolds to a 3x8" tablet would be pretty nifty. Still miss my 8210.

I think it is unlocked, can't see any thing to suggest otherwise.

The latest Iphone didn't bring anything ground breaking apart from something fancy with the camera.
I thought the waterproof thing was a reasonable advance - as indeed is the speed of it.

But I tend to agree that it's hard to think what else could enhance these things other than stylistic change.

The next advance, as I see it, will be the inclusion of real keys and perhaps a smaller form, predictive text that works.
