Why does it keep synching a whole load of bloody music to my phone that I don't want on it? I choose to synch selected playlists but then it synchs a whole load of other tracks that I don't want, which fills up my phone and the only thing I can do is manually delete them from my phone? I just plugged phone in to back up some photos.... added two tracks to one playlist and its synching another 198 tracks

I think ive disabled all auto updates but it does it anyway

Also genius sits there running in the background when ive disabled it on all phones and ipads

I raised an apple support case who said they were very sorry......

Open itunes, go to preferences, then devices.

Check the box at the bottom, click OK

Next time you plug it in, you can just drag and drop to add what you want to the device, and it won't sync everything.

When you install a new version of itunes, it dumps an icon on the desktop without even asking. Just plain rude tbh!
So I concur....fking itunes!!

I didn't even realise iTunes was still the thing to use. Haven't had the need to use it for years, what with cloud stuff, what's the need for it these days? I used to use mediamonkey instead of itunes, but even that's redundant now

It is the work of the devil. I don't use it, I throw it into the pit of eternal damnation.

iTunes is why I use Android now ... my first proper smartphone was an iPhone 3G which was an astounding piece of kit for the time - but the sheer awfulness of this turd of a piece of software lead to me moving over to Android and never looking back, when the time came to upgrade.

Its gone back to doing the same thing. To prove the point I removed all the music from my phone, then forced it to sync selecting only one playlist which ahs 6 songs on it and its adding another 211 random songs. And its the same songs ech time it does it and apple as usual don't want to know. Worst thing is its copying same songs to my kids devices when I back them up, including Cradle of Filth songs!

I have an iPhone, iPad, I pretty much everything apart from Tv. I love the interface it's so simple. But with reference to iTunes and to a certain extent your right it's a bag of fking st at best.

All my music has for years been organised using star ratings as the primary method. Then when Apple Music came out to try and force everybody to use it they got rid of stars and had either like or dislike (presumably so they could market you more st you didn't want. Finally a couple of versions of Imusic later and they have relented and re introduced it.

Also why do they always remove the good obvious features or hide them away in some impossible place to find sub, sub, sub menu. It's almost like the software engineers reached the pinnacle about 5-7 years ago and now feel they must change iTunes/ imusic every year to make it just that little bit stter than it was.

But the point is that Sony don't make much effort making that software because their users can use all the really good software that other people have already made. Sony's Music player app is really really good though.

What's the best software for syncing on Android these days? I've not used sync for a few years but need to finish setting up a new phone. I'd like to be able to setup a video playlist on my PC, have the phone automatically sync the first x videos in the list, then when I've watched them have them automatically delete and add the next one when I'm back on the home WiFi.

Cheers.

This sounds like the culprit, have you managed to uncheck this box?
