Im after a PAYG sim for my daughter that doesnt have data on it. Is there such thing? She has wifi most places but I want her to be able to text or call in an emergency. Preferbly a sim that doesnt expire with the credit after a few months.

In EE yesterday to buy a pre paid SIM for my wife's phone. She only needs it for a month, so I asked, for a £20 pre paid Sim.

The sales guy says "okay, no problem, but you do realise that since we left the EU texts now cost 44p each and phone is 30p a minute, so you are much better off with a pay as you go scheme".

I told him that we haven't actually left the EU yet.....

That baffled him a bit and he then said he would put us 'a pack' on the Sim to give her something like unlimited texts and free calls for a month, or similar.

Was he really feeding us blatant BS to try to get us to take out a contract?

wj- Vodafone have just stopped additions to their family & friend scheme, otherwise you could have gone there. One PAYG member pays a monthly fee ( depends on membership number) , and all members get free calls to each other. We had grand daughter in ours ,as she often ran out of credit . But as I say , Voddy have closed the scheme to new entry/ mods. Perhaps other operators do something similar.

Both my kids 11 and 15 are on Three PAYG SIM on their 3,2,1 deal,

3p per minuit, 2p per text and 1p per meg of data.

The credit does not expire, I find this very reasonable and they both know it's more than their life is worth to be watching YouTube or some other tosh when using data.

Just turn mobile data off on the device then your sorted.
