Google Pixel 2 and 2xl
Discussion
Looks like October the 4th will be the announcement for the new Pixel device from Google.
Anyone else interested to see what the device will have to offer over the AppleX device?
My Nexus6 is almost dead, so looking to upgrade soon. Hoping the price is reasonable. My N6 is 2+ years old now!

I'm very interested. I have a Nexus 6P which I love, but the battery life has been very poor lately, even after getting a replacement.
I buy phones sim-free and I'm prepared to go up to £600ish, but I'm not going to pay Apple X level £1k plus prices.
The current Pixel XL 128GB is £819, so I'm not optimistic.

I doubt my N6 will have must value left if i sold it to add to a new phone either
I think the spec/screen and circa £600 price of the Galaxy S8 could be a stumbling block for the Pixel range. Vanilla Android was always a massive draw with the Google phones, but I went from a Nexus 5X to the S8 and the current Samsung skin is a massive improvement old TouchWiz, I think the Pixel2 will have to be pretty special and priced well to draw people away from the obvious android offering of the S8.
It's been rumoured not to have a headphone jack as Bose have Bluetooth headphones coming with Google Assistant built in. I have Bose wired in-ear ones currently and they are fantastic. Really don't want to shell out all that money for a phone and they pay another chunk on new headphones.
I have a Nexus 5 so well overdue a replacement.

I was hoping to get the first Pixel but the price was extortionate imo. I don't expect that to change.
Not long ago the Google devices were among the cheapest Android phones you could get.
I'm waiting to see what UK pricing is like on the LG V30 as it looks to be a potential dark horse with all the features you could possibly need - including a really nice wide angle camera. I don't expect it to be any cheaper than the Pixel 2 though.

Have to say that the V30 looks to be phone of the year to me - really interesting bit of kit. I'm holding out to see the price, but the One plus 5 is almost certainly going to be a couple of hundred pounds cheaper and to be honest on paper specs it's hard to justify spending any more.Alex said:

I’m guessing the 128GB (or 256GB if we’re lucky) XL will be around the Note 8 price, so £850 or so. I buy phones sim-free and I'm prepared to go up to £600ish, but I'm not going to pay Apple X level £1k plus prices.

I think I’ll probably get one, but I’m a little apprehensive that they’re being made by LG, every LG phone I’ve ever had has developed some kind of problem.
I’ve had a great six months with the Pixel XL but I want a change as I usually do around this time. As long as it has a an excellent camera again I’ll be a happy bunny, the other hardware and performance will of course be more than adequate I imagine.
Sorry for thread revival, but has anyone with a Pixel 2 / XL had any issues since the last Android update about 3 weeks ago? The update reportedly unlocked the phone's vision core chipset to 3rd party apps. Since the update any in-app camera function (IG, Whatsapp, FB etc) just freezes the screen and I have to back out the app. The phone's camera app works fine.
I've cleared caches, re-installed apps and waited for apps to be updated, to no avail. Next step I guess is to to a backup and re-install. Can't find any other reports of the same issue, which is frustrating!

I've got a 2xl and haven't had any issues with it at all, although admittedly I don't let any apps other than the built in camera access the lens. (I take pictures as normal then share them afterwards.)
Love this phone! (Not so keen on my tinfoil hat though.)
My 2XL has been faultless up to now, and normally as a workaround I would do that too, but for example IG story mode does some funny photo cropping if you try uploading a photo from gallery rather than just taking one in-app. Annoying.Love this phone! (Not so keen on my tinfoil hat though.)

I've had my 2 for a week, zero issues here.
Have to say I think it's a cracking piece of kit!
It is great! Did a restore on the phone this morning and still the issue exists. Unsure of what to do now as it is most certainly software related following that visual core related update, so little point swapping the phone. I guess wait for another update. I did have an online chat with Pixel support last week and they hadn't heard of other instances of it happening. Have to say I think it's a cracking piece of kit!
