Other than security patches/updates is there any point in upgrading to 11 ?

It just seems to be a complete cock up.

Must admit I never normally jump in this quick and wished I hadn’t this time.

Never again.

I'm not letting my iPhone 6S anywhere near it.

I have just updated my phone to 11.1.2

If you don't allow the updates you can't complain your bit of kit doesn't work properly.

Luckily, or ironically smile, it would seem that the only time I'd need to complain about a non-functioning phone would be after the update, not before!

Been early adopter of updates etc. And apart from initial battery run down that seems to get better after a day or three, I never see any issues. I think 11 is good.

The iOS 11 has taken a massive dump over the podcast app. It's horrible to use now, if it works at all. Loads of episodes either don't download because they're "waiting", and if they do download they don't completely finish. Some new episodes have downloaded and just won't play either.

Awful, awful application now.
no exaggeration to say they've ruined it, was my favorite, i'm getting inconsistent downloads as well,

It is working though , it seems to be those who have updated who are having the problems.

My 7 is okay, but the GFs 6 is struggling.

My iPad Pro 9.7 is fine. My old iPad Air is also struggling (mainly for free space now - all the apps seem to have bloated out)

But in general iOS11 is pretty rubbish. So much so I've picked up my first Android phone.

Ignore him. Or is it her?

Update.

Take every update that is offered to you.

Update as if your life depended on it.

11.1.2 is the name of the latest game.

Your not saying why though ?

The vast majority on here have upgraded and regret doing so .

But then i'm sure there are plenty who have updated and have had very few, if any, issues.

For e.g... my other half. grumpy

Just done a quick Google and apart from the battery issues, there doesn't seem to be major problems globally..

However, interesting about switching off wifi & bluetooth...

"If you want to turn off Bluetooth or WiFi you need to go into Settings, but even if you turn them off here they will turn on again automatically at 5am the next morning."

WTF??

Safari seems to be fine now. I turned off the cloud thing for safari and it has not crashed since.

Yeah, assumed it was a bug. End of the world and all that not doing what it says on the tin.

Not tried since the last update so not sure it works. Find out tomorrow morning.

My experience on an IPhone 6 with 11.1.2 as an upgrade

Bluetooth, as it’s now actively live in the background, even if turned off in the slide up quick view panel is that it will try to connect to known devices regularly. My car for example, and as it picks up quickly it will connect before my preferred car/windows phone I use for work. This I dislike a lot. Off should be off.
Messages, it’s slow to Launch, about half a second or so before I can type anything. It used to be quite snappy in operation. Hateful
WhatsApp, the same slow launch and initial operation, hateful
Podcasts are frustrating, I used to be able and liked to just play them all in order of date, regardless of type, or origin, now can’t do that, only by specific genre, really dislike this.
Restarts are really slow, minutes now, it’s like a windows device, taunts youbeuth the interface but the apps aren’t ready to run
Camera, slow to start and function initially, used to be really snappy, I’ve missed more than one good opportunity just lately on some wildlife shots, frustrating
Selecting text, if I type a word, how on earth do I select one character to remove, rather than having to delete or remove the whole word, that’s annoying

Other apps are or behave like blinking when on initial start, they are just slow to respond

Oh, and coming from a HTC a while back, the “predicted words” function on an iPhone is so incredibly poor. The HTC seemed to learn the sentence structure and would predict quite accurately the right words you would need in a sentence. This iPhone does a poor job

That’s all I can remember of my experience presently
