Much to my annoyance, TomTom introduced a mandantory up-date which now means that I cannot plug my XXL IQ routes into the computer and operate it - useful for downloading maps, etc.

I've managed to re-load TomTom 2.7 which now works and I can download maps but as soon as I want to view them on the computer, the mandantory up-date kicks in and I'm back to square 1. Does anyone know how to stop those up-dates? If I could stop them, I'd be back in business and very grateful to the person who helped me.

Why not let it continue to do the update?

Because when it does, functions like "operate my device" are greyed out and cannot be used via. the computer. Also routes created in Tyre cannot be copied to the TomTom.

I have a Tom Tom One XL and the updates are a PITA. I have tried to update it twice in the past and it fails which bricks it, and it then take days to finally fix so I don't bother anymore. The last update removed the setting to stop the annoying start up/shut down chime, which I know is a small thing but incredibly annoying.

Not exactly the same problems as mine, Ash, because theirs are later units. Nevertheless I have managed to sort it now but don't really know how.
