Best paid for VPN?
Discussion
I've used Hide.me in the past and found it flawless across a number of countries and regions. After using it in the UAE for approximately 10 months it suffered from a region ban which we couldn't find a way around. I then switched to ExpressVPN which I've used since.
But after moving to another country just over a month ago that seems to have encountered a region ban (even though it has servers in the country). For now it works when I need it over a manual configuration (most of the time). It still works in any other territory I've used it in though.
Both of those companies offered very good customer support, for what it's worth.
TL;DR - Your mileage may vary depending on location/country you use it in. If you're only using it in the UK or Western Europe any of the larger respectable operations should be dependable enough without interruption.

Best VPN depends on what you want from a VPN. Best speed? Anonymous signup? No logs? Not everyone has the same requirements. Have a look at this site which has some genuine reviews of paid-for VPNs:

Unfortunately it's not the best example of web design but there is useful information if you hunt hard enough. Both IPVanish & NordVPN are not well regarded for one reason or another.

Tunnelbear works OK with me, but like most doesn't get around geolocation, I use AlwaysHome now which connects via my UK home IP so get's around the whole geolocation thing.
I've used Tunnelbear before, I assumed it did as it gives you the option of where to "be"?Silicon Penetration said:
Torn between ipvanish and NordVPN.
What do you guys use & why?
Both are decent VPNs, but I prefer NordVPN. First of all, IpVanish is based in US and Nord is based in Panama, data retention laws differ like day and night between the two countries. Comparing the prices NordVPN is cheaper and you can get a refund if there's something you don't like. If you're using Linux there will be some additional steps setting up Nord, but it can be done. What do you guys use & why?

Nord was reviewed a while ago, from memory the main issuer was a lack of servers for the price, this has since been rectified.https://thatoneprivacysite.net/

I use Nord, got a cracking 3 yr deal for $99, works a treat.
I use NordVPN.
I was comparing a few like you are but NordVPN were doing a special offer, 2 years for £60 so I went with them.
SO far, I have nothing to complain about. The options, speed and set up are fine. The only thing that does bug me is sometimes NordVPN doesn't recognise my log in.
I have it installed on multiple devices and they're all working fine. I don't know what the device limit is but I'm up to 4 devices with no throttling or extra charges.

I was all set to use Nord - having spent over a year researching and prevaricating - and then at the last moment discovered Hidden24.
The final point will always be a UK server, so you don't run into any issues with websites thinking you're a hacker because you're accessing from Venezuela or somewhere else odd.
As I'm not a member of any kind of terrorist or paramilitary group, I simply wanted an arm's length arrangement with the internet, rather than anything any more extreme. And I didn't want Gmail or Facebook etc to keep spinning password reset exercises at me.
Works on PC and my phone. It's not an app though; in both instances you set it up as a connection. I only switch it on, on my phone, when I'm about to go into a higher risk situation, e.g. a public wi-fi area.

NordVPN user here, paid very little (I think 50euro) for a three year package, works flawlessly across iPad, iPhones, Mac and Windows 10. We live in the Middle East so use it quite often as nearly everything needs it. Easily switching between 'Favorites' USA, UK and Ireland where applicable. The final point will always be a UK server, so you don't run into any issues with websites thinking you're a hacker because you're accessing from Venezuela or somewhere else odd.

Strangely enough, only time I'm faced 'with websites thinking you're a hacker' is when trying to access a site that sounds like 'HornPub' Google then decides to challenge me to spot the shopfront .... Quite.The.Anticlimax let me tell you!
