Been using Cyberghost for a while now, I use Proton Mail as well as Google and Zoho for mail. Noticed Proton also have a free and paid VPN.

Will try it out.

Not the cheapest but I value privacy and security and Mullvad tick all the boxes. OpenVPN underneath and provide OpenVPN profiles for mobile clients. Decent speeds too with servers in plenty of locations.

IP Vanish is very good. But make sure you go into settings and remove the 'auto renew'. Sadly, I didn't and I now have a years worth of VPN that I don't need.

That's a good call, Mullvad was my next choice after Nord.

Well, my views have certainly changed since earlier contributions to this thread.

I was initially with Hidden24, they were ok to start, good speeds and no compromises, then my bitTorrent client started playing up and bhing about ports. Turns out that H24 don't offer any kind of port management solution. Raised a ticket asking about a couple of other issues, went unanswered for several days. Sent another asking about how users go about closing their account (nothing on their website) and - surprise, surprise - they just went ahead and closed it within an hour of me raising the ticket. Two weeks into a three month payment - 'no refunds' being part of their T&Cs.

Switched to NordVPN as it is so popular on here. Nice UI, but what a pile of usability crap. Significantly slowed my connection, even using 'in country' servers (really noticeable on anything containing images). Can't access 'basics' websites like Amazon. Really fks up Outlook - incoming emails won't download their images and outgoing emails simply won't send.

So... what's next? Express VPN?

I think most VPNs are going to limit your speed a bit. I just ran a speed test and I'm getting 220 Mbps down and 12 up normally, with Pure VPN connected to a localish server I'm getting 101 and 11, which doesn't seem bad though.

This doesn't sound right at all. Have you tried using a different in country server?
I had the emails not downloading attachments/images and it fixed itself straight away when trying a different server.

Nord for me. Had it for 3 years, excellent customer service.

At home with BT fibre I get 74 down and 19 up normally, then with Nord active I get around 55 down and 12 up.

On EE 4G I get around 50 down and around 30 up, with Nord around 35 up and 22 down.

I believe they are based in Panama so they don't have to keep server logs and are not part of five eyes. Both critical if you want a VPN that behaves in a way you would expect. Remember, not all VPNs are equal....

I find with PureVPN that if I log in with the usual vpn tool iplayer quite often won't work, but with the PureVPN chrome plugin it works every time as I tell it I want iplayer and it picks a suitable server. Worth checking is there's a similar plugin for yours.
