Put it onto my x no real difference, would putting it onto an original ipad Air speed it up a bit do we think?
It might do but I tried updating our iPad Mini and was told we are running the most up-to-date version, which I think means older models aren't supported any more. Is a subtle hint to go out and buy a shiny new one!rich888 said:

Is a subtle hint to go out and buy a shiny new one!I updated my iPhone 10 and noticed the display was much "brighter" for the same display settings which is a bit odd; I checked the Macrumors forum and there is a thread running with similar complaints that the screen looks washed out and the white point setting appears to have changed (not that I fully understand that...).

Oddly enough, was looking at this yesterday, as old kit goes to various family members, resulting in upgrades here. My old old Mini is now well overdue an upgrade for my Mum, but the MIni 4 I got to replace it doesnt actually have an upgrade path, so she's out of luck. Roll on the Mini 5, says her
She may have a long wait! 3 years so far since the 4 was released and most sites suggest that sources say it’s unlikely to be replaced. Changing tne keybpisitions of the bottom left two keys.
Pointless and irritaing to keep pressing tne wrong key.
Takes longer to get to control panel settings such as text size.
It does seem to have resolved my intermittanyly non responsive touch screen.
So that’s good (just hit that wrong key again looking for the ‘ chatachter ...and again!
I wonder if the keyboard thing is an inhouse joke by apple.
Not the first time they have done this.

According to Wikipedia the original iPad Mini released Nov 2012 support upto iOS9 so 6 years isn't bad going to be fair. FWIW I'm sure I read iOS12 should be available on all devices that supported iOS 11 so nothing will be becoming obsolete for now.

From Apple “Obsolete products are those that were discontinued more than 7 years ago.“FWIW I'm sure I read iOS12 should be available on all devices that supported iOS 11 so nothing will be becoming obsolete for now.
Original iPad mini is not supported in iOS12
