I put it on my 6s+ a couple of days ago. Apps open faster, generally seems speedier, and I really like the grouped/stacked notifications. Big improvement IMO.

I was considering an upgrade, but realised for me the 7+ and 8+ are not much of an upgrade, I looked into the X. Saw the current contract prices and promptly shelved the idea. Replaced the broken glass protector, and gave it a new case. Feels a bit like a new phone! I'll wait until an X can be had for £400 second hand and continue with my sim-only deal I think.

Installed on my 6s. Echo other comments, phone feels snappier to use and (it may be my imagination) buy battery seems to be lasting a bit longer. Anyhow - I’m impressed!

I've noticed Siri now can't associate mobile with iPhone when using voice commands.

Before the update I could say "dial Bob mobile". Siri would then "dialling Bob iPhone". Not any more, I now need to define the device, if I say "dial Bob mobile" Siri now can't work it out and says no number available.

It might do but I tried updating our iPad Mini and was told we are running the most up-to-date version, which I think means older models aren't supported any more. Is a subtle hint to go out and buy a shiny new one!
Of course, that's the Apple way! I inherited my son's old iPhone to contact friends abroad who use Facetime. But the old OS won't accept WhatsApp and as Apple no longer support the phone the OS can't be upgraded to one that will. Oh, and £75 for a new battery please!

I uploaded iOS 12 a couple of minutes after it was released.

Right.

It's got this 'Measure app' thing on it.

Right?

Well, how do I make it work?

Please?

Go slowly.

Open it
Point it at something you want to measure
Wiggle the phone up down left right until it stops asking
Then aim the centre point at the start point you want to measure from, press the on-screen + button, and move to the other end and it will show the distance on screen

It can’t do things far away (buildings etc)

I swore that I would never update my 2018 ipad but if IOS12 genuinely has performance improvements, then I may update....but not just yet.

it would be great if apps didn't just randomly crash and close themselves

But I suppose that they open quickly again, so Apple would argue that it's ok

Definitely do it. Made my 6s from 3 years ago feel like new again.

No point in swipe/force closing apps unless it’s got a problem.

It actually slows down the experience as nothing is then preloaded so uses more battery/processing to start up the app etc.

Been running this on my 5SE for a few weeks now, it is killing my battery, used to get a full day plus, now it's at 20% by mid afternoon, that's with normal usage. Tried a hard reboot a few times a,d switched of some background stuff, but still draining battery fast. Phone is only 18 months old.

Strange. I've got an identical 5SE (same age too) and that's now got much better battery life after the update...weird?

I’d be looking at your app usage, the majority of users are reporting an improvement.
