I also feel the same about google and their incessant asking me to start a trial of YouTube premium or whatever it’s called at the start of every video.

Facebook/YouTube and their shifting from adverts at the start of a video (annoying but okay I understand) to some random point in the advert. Thankfully shifting the slider bar about seems to confuse the advert placement and a lot of times you can watch it advert free. If not it’s simple I will just turn the video off because it annoys the st out of me to get halfway through a video and then have to watch an advert. Just put it at the front with the skip advert after 5 seconds.

I can categorically say I have never bought anything due to these adverts purely due to the amount they piss me off even if I do have to endure watching them because I really want to see the content.
Have you not subscribed yet? You tube no adverts is a must for snowflakes / millennials if you don’t have a TV licence spend that saving here

But I reckon you weren't scammed, you just didn't pay attention when you were clicking things
They make it very difficult not to. Amazon seems desperate to get everyone onto Prime. I’m on the free trial albeit accidentally and will cancel before incurring any fees.
I use Amazon regularly and have never joined Prime accidentally. Its really not that hard.

I did the same a couple of years ago just by accidentally tapping the wrong button whilst buying something.

The buttons were something like:
BUY with prime
BUY

My fault, but they make it very very easy to subscribe and not so easy to cancel.

I'm pretty good at not clicking Prime buttons but I managed to accidentally sign up for a free trial the other day because the cheeky bds have made a button with the shiny big "Yes please" text AND the dull grey ''no i don't maybe not want to not have the possibility of not having some maybe free delivery oh now I'm confused" text on the same button, and in my tired state I clicked the grey bit and it signed me up.

Cancelled immediately which involves 4 separate 'Are you sure' pages, like it's turning off someone's life support, but still annoying when I just wanted to order some washing machine descaler. Of course I'm sure Amazon, I'm already using a friend's account for the TV :-D

I accidentally ended up signed up to Prime as well. Was only when I went to place an order for something else a little while later I realised I had. Ended up paying a month of it then cancelling.

I would have it ordinarily but I have a Netflix account and my other half has Prime so I just don't need it.

They are cheeky in how they make it so easily available without really noticing. Yes you get a free month but they must make a fortune from people not realising until they've been billed for the second month.

It’s st, Netflix is better. Why every fking time I want to check out of Amazon and buy a watch battery am I inundated with “do you want to join Amazon fking prime?” Messages? No I fking do not want to join. fk off ! Mother fking ing bds just fk off!

Yet somehow I am now subscribed again yes they scammed me and I now need to go through their protracted cancellation process yet again, I really hate them. s. Absolute s. Just fk off !
Mother fking s. Aaarrrggghhhh.

2/10 rant but I hate them
With your constant struggle with cyclists and signing up to a service you don't want again, you aren't painting a picture of a particularly bright chap.

What put me off Prime is the price is much higher in the UK than other countries so it feels like a ripoff.

Every time I go on my dad's PC I check he hasn't signed up with Prime in error (it's happened once so far).

They seem to rely on inadvertent sign-ups.

Should be thing like when you log on to your bank, where you can click "I've read this, don't ask me again".

I’ve got until the end of the month to cancel Prime without a charge so I’ll cancel in a couple of weeks.

Lol!

For what it's worth for 7.99....

-I get free next day delivery on about 4 to 5 items I buy per month on amazon (hate eBay these days)

-Have prime TV which is worth it for the US office alone

-Have every photograph I've ever taken backed up (talking 50 odd GB minimum)

What an absolute bargain !

Glad to hear it works for you, I don’t need or want any of that.

I’ve no problem with Amazon offering Prime but as others have said they’ve deliberately and blatantly made it very easy to subscribe by mistake. I’ll be cancelling before the end of the trial period.

How do people survive WITHOUT Amazon Prime more to the point. You must need to buy random little things at least 2-3 times a month so the free delivery quickly pays for itself. Do people actually go to shops to buy all that crap - batteries, various leads, chargers, coffee beans etc, etc, etc. 1 minute purchase on Amazon and move on. Then you get the video which is OK. I like Prime music - it's got most of the stuff I want so saved a tenner a month on Spotify (it doesn't have much new stuff, just to be clear). Photo backup is good too.

Lots of benefit for v.little cash IMO

That’s why the High Streets are dying. I do use Amazon maybe 5-6 times a year but I prefer buying at the shops.

I'd say less sneaky than xbox gold.

Buy gold. Its automatically turns onto auto renew. To cancel auto renew you cannot do this on the xbox you bought it on... you need to log into the website, so you finally turn it off. Next year rolls round, you buy and you've to do the whole process again.

Plus it went up a tenner.

That's just delaying the inevitable. I've got a high street shop and I know that when we are no longer competitive we'll have to change our model. Such is the price of progress.

I still use shops for certain things, but quick commodity transactions of mundane "stuff" - Amazon all the way.
