I listen to the MyTuner Radio app on iPhone and Mac, the BBC stations still work, no sign-in needed
That just means that unlike TuneIn, other apps are giving the BBC your data. If TuneIn agreed, it would have BBC back again.

Or it's a smaller service and not on BBC's radar yet.

They don’t have any more of my data than Tunein

May be off the radar, but just in case anyone here would prefer to listen to BBC radio rather than moan about Sounds

Given the minimum Android version required for the Sounds app is higher than that for the much missed iPlayer Radio app, that's not a statement they could ever have made without it being a bare faced lie.

As the tablet I use as my media player was one such casualty of the withdrawal of iPR, and as trying to do anything other than listening to live radio in the Radio Player app is an exercise in frustration, I find myself relying more and more on the get_iplayer download tool to rip stuff onto my PC from where I can stream it locally to the tablet. I've also found myself spending more time listening to stuff other than BBC stations, so yeah, great work there on helping to maintain and expand your listenership...
Got a final reply for the Sounds Escalation department after suggesting they could have saved everyone a lot of time by being honest.

"Thanks for getting back in touch with BBC Sounds Support.

Thanks for providing feedback on BBC Sounds and I'll make sure to log this onto the Audience Feedback Report for you and this gets seen by BBC Management and by the BBC Sounds Team."

Just tried to use 6 Music as my alarm on my Echo, which of course I can't as the BBC won't allow it to work on Tune In even though I've paid for it.

Now using a competitor's station instead. Genius!

Put me down as another that listened to iPlayer radio almost every day, and have now stopped completely since Sounds was introduced.

But as I'm over 30, that's probably another mission accomplished.

Bump - It's about time the BBC reversed this stupid decision in the light of current developments, people needing maximum access to news etc.

It seems to me like the baur, owners of the planet radio network are doing a similar thing. I can no longer use absolute 90s, 00s, 10s, or kiss on shoutcast. Even Kiss' own app wants you to create an account/sign in for you to to continue listening. fk that. What utter nonsense.
