Nearly time again for the annual Google hardware even.

Expected this year is a few nest device updates,Nest Wifi, Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, Pixel buds 2, Pixelbook Go.

I've had my Pixel XL 2 for 2 years in a few days and I tend to change phones every 2 years, just compared the specs on GSMArena for Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL and my Pixel 2 XL and got to say... I'm not seeing a reason to upgrade!

Whos ordering what? Three are supposed to be offering a feww Chromebook with pre-order on Pixel 4. Still tempted to go Smarty sim only and pay up front if I do upgrade.

Had a couple of iterations of the Nexus range of devices but I can't deal with the sizes of the Bezels on the pixel phones compared to the (often cheaper) competition.

I only upgraded from a Nexus 5X to Pixel 2XL this year and I honestly can't see how any other phone could be an upgrade from this. Clearly I'm not the target audience for phone manufacturers - I tend to keep mine a good 4 years.

I might be interested in the Pixel Buds if they have a better charging case than the current versions. I use the wired ones at the moment and I quite like them.

I went Samsung Galaxy S1>2>3>4>5> HTC One M8 (Google Play edition)> Nexus 5 > Nexus 6P> Pixel XL 2.

I was planning on Pixel XL 4 but at the moment I'm not seeing a reason to upgrade, other than my mum was planning to have my Pixel XL 2 off me!

Like others, I'll be watching to see what the P4 has to offer, but right now I don't feel I'll be moving from my 2XL for a while yet.

I've gone LG (android) > Nexus S > Nexus 5 > Nexus 6P > Pixel 2XL. So following form and previous upgrades in theory the 4 should be the next step, but I'm not feeling it yet.

In that time I've run iPhone 3GS, 4S, 5S, 6S, and 7 concurrently. The Nexus and Pixel devices always outperformed the iPhones side by side and were just a nicer, more reliable, and much preferred option for me each time.
But both Apple and Google seem to be shooting for the stars when it comes to retail pricing in recent years, and I struggle each time to justify it. (The P2XL cost 80% more than the 6P for example, and at the time felt like a very mild upgrade. The P2XL does run considerably quicker than the 6P now, but it's taken 2 years of software updates to get there, and now it's 2 models behind!)

Hope they bring a new, brilliant, incredibly cheap 10.5inch tablet. My old sonys battery is finally about goosed after 6+ years. What a machine.

Z2 or Z4 TABLET? I always wanted one but 400 quid to pricy for me. I liked the Idea of watching videos in the bath.

I ended with a Huawei m5 10.5 which is really good. Lovely screen, excellent battery life, pretty good sound. Cheap too.

Have to admit I'm totally taken by my 3a and so pleased that I made the switch from my XSMax last month (after being a long term iPhone owner since the original, 3g, 3gs, 4, 5, 5s, 6, 6s+, 7, SE, X, XSMax)

Intrigued to see what the 4 is like!

Have they really called it Google hardware event?

Seems like a really worrying subject line to see in your inbox when you run an application hosted on google cloud platform

Google said in June that they're stepping away from tablets to focus on laptops (I don't know if that means pixel books or Chromebooks?)

I picked up a second hand 2xl around 5 months ago and will be holding on to it for the foreseeable - keen to see how the 4xl stacks up though as I'll likely go for one when the 5 comes out. I've no interest in the 3xl whatsoever due to the notch (and the fact the hardware seems stty compared to the 2xl going by various user reports)

Think it all depends on how many of the new features expected on the 4 won't be available on the 1/2/3/3a

They have a habit of releasing these phones with new featues then pushing them as software updates to the older models as well.

I suspect unless there's a good reason not to, the missus and I will be upgrading to 4XLs from our 2XLs, which have been excellent. thumbup

A possible 4 figure price tag might be a good reason

The 5G will probably be 4 figures but the normal one is expected to start at similar prices to the 3XL.

Think I'm gonna hold out for the 5G, 2 years is a long time to keep a 4G phone when 5G is available in some citys already.

Pixel 4 at $799 seems a decent deal

£829 for the Pixel XL 4 with free Chromebook if you pre-order is very tempting but I cant look past the fact its not 5G.

I used to change my phone every year maximum, sometimes less. I've had my Pixel XL 2, 2 years now and there's nothing wrong with it.

I've got Google Wifi, said ages ago would of been better if they had built speakers into them! Tempted by some Pixel buds.
