Need a cctv system with 2 cameras with good night vision not fussed if it’s cloud backup or a dvr but image quality is the most important thing

What sort of cost am I looking at ideally £350-400 as a maximum would be ideal

Self install is fine as is running cables to power

Hikvision 4 channel DVR with 1TB HDD £90-100
Hikvision 2MP Full HD Dome camera £60 each
Reel of cable, power adapter £20-30
Connectors, fittings £10

If the area you are covering is very dark, consider also installing an LED IR illuminator, just run it off the same power supply unit as the cameras.

Second this - no monthly charges or wifi issues with hard wired. Also easily scalable and you can swap/add components as you go along. Also I don't have a preference between Hikvision or Dahua both being on a par with one another.

This guy does good reviews - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-53MWDrB2Ks&t=...

I have in certain instances used Ring Cameras (the wireless battery powered camera does have a decent picture and seems to last 3 months on a charge). As always there is a monthly charge...

Is there a Hikvision app that can be used with the above method of solution to access the "live view" from away from the property?
Thanks, Rob

I'm a NAS user rather than DVR, but do have 2 Hik CCTV cameras and use the Hik Connect app on my android phone - live view of both cameras over 3/4/5G networks (well - less of the 5 as I can't get it here!)

I've got Hikvision and they are really solid cameras. Low-light performance is excellent.

Yes. In fact there's 2: Hik-Connect and iVMS-4500. The former is a bit more user-friendly and I suspect is intended for domestic network installations. They can both do live multi view and also playback of recorded video.

If the cameras are out of reach (i.e. can't be stolen) then I'd consider dropping the DVR and just using SD cards in the cameras themselves. This is what I do - recording & remote playback seem to work just as well as with a DVR.
