Selling tech - they've found fault that didn't exist?
Discussion
As others have said, I typically ignore the recyclers for all the reasons above. I have just heard too many repeats of these kinds of stories.
Normally I just list my old phones on ebay during a £1 FVF day. I tell it exactly how it is, take photos of corners and overall condition.
I haven't had an issue to date with old phones, but equally some ebay'ers can be a bit free of morals when they decide they don't want it, they can just fabricate any fault, send it back (at your cost). Assuming you get the same item back, it won't have the fault but ebay won't support you and pretty much close out the refund there and then.

THis is why Gumtree cash on collection is a better option, ok you limit your custmer base but.. Normally I just list my old phones on ebay during a £1 FVF day. I tell it exactly how it is, take photos of corners and overall condition.

I have sold on eBay, I had one where, "phone not as advertised, not working, I want a refund" but I managed to fight my corner as I had loads of pics of it working.
To counter this I have sold many pieces of old tech to a site that is Ornithological in nature and never had a single issue, pack it up well, they receive a few days later and all money transferred
We did have one knock down on price on an old phone of my wifes that was due to net about £15 from them, they said it was water damaged and I immediately got annoyed thinking they were pulling a fast one only for us to remember that was why it was placed in the cupboard and replaced initially

I've used the Samsung service when buying a new phone. They offered £200 for my old S8 and took that off the cost of the new S20 when I did the transaction, before I sent them the old phone. Courier arrived to pick up the phone and a couple of weeks later I got an email confirming receipt and all is good.
