Folks,

Is there a still a way to read single issues of bike magazines in digital format?

I'm sure a while ago, I could go into the built in Android/Apple app and purchase a *single* issue of a magazine (in this case a motorbike magazine). It seems that all the main magazine companies now have moved to a subscription model so I have to sign up for a year (or monthly) subscription to 100 magazines to get access to the few magazines I want to read. I'm generally an infrequent reader, so the idea of paying every month isn't super attractive.

Any guidance is welcome

Thanks, Ace

I believe that Redly (app) allow a 2 day free trial, then also offer an extended 2 months one that you have to sign up for (and provide your credit card details). That *may* get you access to the magazine in question.

I've been a Readly subscriber for many years, I think £7.99 a month is great value.

If you would like me to check if the magazines you are interested in are on Readly feel free to post a list and I'll check.

Yep. Libby and Press Reader are two of the biggest apps UK libraries use and between them cover most magazines. There’s the odd one not available but for £0/month I can live with that.

Just get a library card and log on using that…

Thank you for suggesting this. I stopped reading magazines a few years ago, particularly Autosport as it became quite expensive for a weekly.

I checked out our local library online on Friday lunchtime and applied for a card. By the afternoon I received an email telling me that my card was ready for collection. I picked it up yesterday and now have free online access to thousands of publications. Amazing!

It really is and was a godsend during lockdown last year

Libraries (round here anyway) don’t really seem to promote this service much which is odd.

Many thanks - I've just refreshed my library card and now have access to all the mags I need for Free! No need to fork out for Redly - huzzah!

I downloaded the library app and put in my library card details and it worked beautifully, most of the magazines I want to read are there!

Reedly subscription cancelled.

This is why I love pistonheads.
