Like who the fk actually buys a home or a car in the metaverse for actual SSS/bitcoin, and why???
This is not a new thing is it, people were real life millionaires from selling property in second life years ago.

EA make $1bn from in game transactions in FIFA and then a new addition comes out the following year and all those purchases are worthless for the user.

Still a bit complicated. I found a much simpler summary:

I bought in to a couple of NFT projects, but it's a dangerous place at the moment, so many rug pulls and people loosing out on thousands of pounds and the scammers making a fortune.

Always look at the project team, the utilities that come with it and if it doesn't look right, then walk away. I almost bought in to a rug, but something was telling me to hold off, glad I did, because as soon as minting had finished, the project closed down. 10k of NFT's for 0.08 ETH each, that's a lot of money made by the scammers

I won't buy in to anymore projects just yet

I've been into digital currency for not too far off ten years now.

When it comes to NFTs I would probably be in the same class as a deaf and blind 94 yr old colonel when it comes to comprehension.

I know your 300 pixel rock jpeg that you paid $150,000 for is unique. But no less unique than the one I can make in 1 second in MS paint.

Even if you're a currency sceptic you can be pointed towards acceptance, security and network effect to back its value proposition.

And I guess the NFT owner would probably say the same thing. Which means I'm never going to get it.

I hope they make lots of people happy all the same.

The point about copyright isn't one I had thought of, but is really important in my view.

You buy an original JPF / GIF whatever of an ape as a NFT. So you know have a digital certificate that someone says is the original. But you don't even own the right to copy or display it.

But NFT's aren't just digital art, the ones that make money are usually the ones with other utilities attached to them.
For instance, owning an NFT with the right utility, can earn you passive income in other projects, where the creators buy and then split the profits. Another one I have has a raffle each week, where each NFT you own, gives you one ticket in the raffle, if your NFT is picked, you win part of the prize pool, it's not a massive amount, but it's better than most banks give on interest rates at the moment. I won the small raffle on Friday

I've only invested in 2 NFT projects and that's probably it for me, as there are just too many scam projects out there and it takes too long to work out which ones are going to rug pull

Just goes to show how little I know then. You turn your back through one boring bear market and you're suddenly an old goat who the younglings roll their eyes at.

I got enough of a battering from 1st gen stcoins when there were only 20 - 40 of them in total so I'll leave everyone to it.

What is strange is somebody I know who has zero experience of working for an IT company now works for a company that has just produced a virtual recreation of a major sporting event for the metaverse including NFTs that apparently sold out in three minutes.

Having used computers for 40 years, have a degree in computer science, worked in IT for over 25 years and known about blockchain and Crypto for seven years I was like.

I think I am just too old to understand this or think it is anything other than beanie bears or tulips.

i value the nfts of my dog at around 8-10 eth each.

given i probably have about a thousand pictures of my dog does anyone want to straight up swap for a nice 4 bed semi?

to me its a huge money laundering pyramid scheme designed to pull peoples knickers down left right and centre. unless those people want to part with the ETH for pictures of my dog. in which case its a great investment opportunity

If you can make your dog look bored in the photos and shoot lasers out of his eyes then you might be onto something.
