Way too expensive and there don't seem to be any decent price cuts on the outgoing S22 either.

Since neither of those models are expandable with SD card, I'd want at least the 256gig storage model (based on what I use on my current S10e with 128gig internal and 200gig SD).

To be honest wish Google would roll out their own version of Dex, I used similar on Ubuntu Touch years ago before it got discontinued, UT Ports is still available but not really useful as a daily phone.
I completely agree, It would be great if Google actually supported something like it as standard in Android. They already have the basics implemented in their ChromeOS devices that also support Android.

Dex is nice though and a feature I want to have - I have it on my S10e and Tab 5e - but it's not really a full replacement for a simple desktop. It's pretty much 85% of the way there but just falls a little short. Samsung used to have 'Linux on Dex' which was very promising, but cancelled it before it made its way out of beta test.

Given how powerful and f-ing expensive the current generation of Smartphones are, usability as a 'proper' computer should be standard IMO.

Yep, I was thinking this morning, I have one of these tiny desktop computers that cost about £100 running Linux (Manjaro) I'm typing on it now, it does me for daily stuff but would be much easier if I just came to my desk, docked my phone and away we went as the phone specs are much better than my desktop.

I've noticed there is a force desktop mode hidden in the developer section of my Pixel 6 so might see what that does.

That would be me, I'll post a mini review once I've had chance to use it for a week or so.

Just pushed the button to upgrade from S22 Ultra to S23 Ultra, with the biggest motivation being a move away from the exynos chip which was widely considered to be holding back the non-US models.

Probably wouldn't have bothered otherwise as, as mentioned, the trade in and pre-order deals are not amazing.

Arrives tomorrow, apparently.

Worst time to buy a new fone is when they are first released, wait 3-4 months and watch that price drop.

If you have TopCashback you can get another 12% off the final price. Where did you find a referral code?

Annoying that Samsung to not support Aptx Adaptive. Bit of a deal breaker for me, so will hang on to the Note10+ for a bit longer.
Was really hoping that the S23 would support this.

Yeah mine came £610 including the leather case after discounts and trade in. RRP should have been £1,453. They are doing double storage at the moment, so 512GB for the price of the 256GB model.

I have a 21U and went into a shop on Sunday to have a look. My phone is in a clear case and looking at the back of the phone at first glance you can't see any different between the 2 phones, so that is a win for me for hanging on to my phone. I only got to hold a dummy phone as the working model was in one of those security cradles but the weight and size was pretty much identical to the 21. The screen was a bit brighter than the 21 but not by much. I didn't get chance to test the performance or the cameras which is where the difference will lie, I think that is where they have spent the money, they certainly didn't spend anything on the exterior design as that hasn't changed since the 21.

I watched a performance comparison video on YT earlier comparing the 22 to the 23, if you can find a similar video you could follow along and press the buttons on your phone at the same time as they run the tests and compare how your phone runs against them, I tried a few of the tests and my phone wasn't that much slower than either phone on the few that I did, open camera, settings, calculator etc, just looking at my phone now and I already had 30+ apps open. I didn't try and copy the tests on any of the gaming apps like Asphalt as I don't have that on my phone so if you are a heavy gamer then that might be something you want to check, along with video editing as the 22 didn't perfprm well on a rendering task.

I'm tempted by upgrading to the S23 Ultra from a S20. Seems to be working out cheaper buying and then getting a sim only contract this time round rather than upgrading through a network.

£880ish with the trade in, although only seeing 2.5% through topcashback?

Seen reports of people getting birthday discount codes, but no such luck for me to bring it down even more frown

I'm staring to do exactly that with my Fold 4 and having to work across multiple sites. Rather than take the laptop plug in the Fold into the Hp docks we have at work. Company portal means I can now essentially access all my work files from the Fold, however annoying DEX still only does single screen support, when am use to x3 screen working now.

The Fold though at least let's me work properly away from the desk and going back to use my wifes Note 20 feels really constricted.

Samsung has got a good thing going with the Fold development, they need to get the cost down and convince people a folding phone is reliable for daily usage. At somepoint I suspect Samsung will push the Fold Ultra as their main flagship device versus the current slab form factor but we are probably a few more generations of Fold away from that......

......but Google/Samsung someone, please enable at least dual screen support on these computers that just happen to fit in your pocket smile.

Is this a standard USB-C dock, does the phone recognise keyboards and mice connected to the same dock?

Finally, after 5 years, I'm upgrading to the S23 ultra 512gb from my trusty S9 plus. I didn't really want to change as the S9+ is such a sweet spot, but it struggles to keep charge, and doesn't get any software/security updates anymore.

I'll try to remember to come back and give some comparisons.
