Fancy presentation aside and apart from gaming what do I use it for?
Is it going to have a keyboard and be a replacement for my MacBook?
Hands free will be handy for immersive video ….Is it going to have a keyboard and be a replacement for my MacBook?
But yeah it’s notably called a spatial computer. Not a VR headset.
So browsing PistonHeads? I think al lot of people people will use it in conjunction with a MacBook. Using the keyboard and trackpad and also extending the MacBook into a panel.
I wasn’t sure about the name at first but vision OS nails it I think.
The ipad wasn’t the first tablet released. But was the first one released that i wanted to use.

But then you’ll presumably need your AirPods in and are they going to have a background noise function?
So fair enough, your plugged in and immersed and you video doorbell goes-you get a notification, great.
But if your kid takes a tumble and and shouts for help (or any other possible situation) are you going to be blissfully unaware?

If it connects to a mac and is essentially an all new, singing and dancing immersive display I can sort of see the appeal. Sort of.

Yeah apparently they have put a lot of work into this aspect. People in your field of view automatically showup. and a new feature for airpods called adaptive noise cancelling was also announced which is selective about what it lets throughBut then you’ll presumably need your AirPods in and are they going to have a background noise function?

Their video gives you an idea of how it will (should?) work. But then you’ll presumably need your AirPods in and are they going to have a background noise function?

I tried VR a few years ago and a few minutes of the headset left me nauseous for hours so it's a no from me
It used to make me nauseous and headachey too but the newer headsets with faster refresh rate don’t. I don’t know exactly what has changed other than refresh rate, but the new headsets are simply way better so you might not have that problem any more. Douglas Quaid said:

It's too expensive, too big, the battery is laughable (and will certainly be extra, you'll be lucky to get the charger in the box knowing Apple) and doesn't appear to do much if anything new.
I look forward to watching influencers play around with the free one Apple send out but that's as far as it'll go I think.
I do think there's a market for wearable tech with augmented reality but its only going to be useful once it gets down to the size of a normal pair of glasses.

Bear in mind the more expensive it is, the more powerful it is at in-group signalling. It's Apple, it's cool and it's really obvious that you're cool to everyone around you because it's really obvious. Enough people will buy it, review it, talk about it that Apple will get all the feedback they need for the next one.
More seriously, definitely up for something like this to replace all my PC monitors, watch TV all that sort of stuff. I think what they need to do though is sort it so that if someone is wearing one you don't see it through yours, that way everyone wears one, everyone looks the same and it's all totally normal. Maybe.

I don't think it's overpriced for what it is, but it will be interesting to see whether people can afford spending that much on it.
I think the "Pro" part of the name shows where it's targeted. Early adopters will be developers and people who will look to make money out of the technology. $3.5k is nothing for them. Once all the ground work is done they'll be a bog standard Apple Vision for the rest of us. I'll still be bloody expensive but that's Apple. Quality costs.
Few years down the line they'll be no arguments in the living room over what to watch on the 65" telly. Kids will never need to leave the bedroom. I hope society can manage this for the good and it doesn't become a drug fed to us via AI bots.

No point being an early adopter but give it a few years/iterations and it will likely be standard just like smart phones are today.
But it's been around for years, and it's always "the next big thing". Trouble is, it's always the "next big thing".If the headset does live up to the hype then in a couple of iterations once the price comes down I can see it being a success and even perhaps replacing smartphones (they may be relegated to the wrist).
