Having pretty much every track you could ever imagine on something the size of a deck of cards is staggering and like you say for £10 a month, it's a no brainer really.

I’ve listened to, discovered, and enjoyed, far more music than I ever have done in my life since I subscribed to Apple Music (Same would obviously apply if it was Spotify/Amazon etc).

It won’t be for everyone, but music streaming has been very good for me.

Had to wait almost 2 months but finally managed to pick one of these up through the Amazon Vine program. For those of us who still want something small and light, and also at a price where you do not care if you lose it smile

Not tried blue tooth connectivity and you have to load it by connecting it to your PC, not just the card, but the sound is decent enough with my headphones once I found the equaliser settings (yeah the ones that came with it were cr*p).

I'm the opposite and started considering an MP3 player as I've became a lazy bd since Spotify.

All I tend to do is play the "DJ" playlist (AI) or shuffle my "Liked Songs" playlist.

Couldn't tell you the last album I listened to start to finish.

Any tips getting back into full albums greatly appreciated.

You mean, how can you listen to an album in full in your car without jumping? Don't press the skip button?

I just leave the MP3 player playing and just listen to whatever it has on it (although I do upload different albums from time to time when I get bored or fancy something different). I also make sure I have a range of options to suit my mood.

My wife uses my old Ipod Shuffle when she's at the gym. I think my youngest uploads songs for her. She likes how small and light it is and how the battery lasts for ages.

This thread has been really useful as I am still trying to decide what to use .....had an old iPod for gym duties and running which died a few years back, also have a old (+15 yes) Sony MP3 still going strong but no Bluetooth and small capacity.
I have Apple carplay in my Golf so could look at Apple but thinking should I just go for a cheap Amazon jobbie, increase capacity with as card and download music? Or are there better options...not keen to use phone either. What does everyone use for downloads these days, Limewire? As someone who still lives in caveman era when it comes to tech any suggestions welcome!

Do you have a USB slot? That's the easiest method for me. The newish headunit in one car has BT and can use a phone app with Alexa which was great for a week but then I quickly got fed up with having to choose the app on my phone and BT dropping (as I knew it would) so I now just stick to using the USB slot with a 16GB stick. As soon as I turn the key, I hear music, continuing whatever DJ mix I was listening to from wherever I left it when I switched the car off.

Nope, I did look at options for one of my kids a year or so ago and it was all £30 rubbish or £300+ for proper stuff. £30 gets you something that works and that you can stuff with a decent SD card, but the UI is terrible. £300 is far too much.

I almost got an old phone, disabled all the wireless stuff apart from WiFi, configured my network as the only one that would work and blocked access to everything apart from YouTube Music, then set it up to boot directly into YouTube Music only and stay there. But in the end it was far too much work.

My phone just does everything better, whether that's accessing high quality stuff off my server, and doing that remotely, playing local files, or serving up bog-standard streaming MP3s all over the house, on my headphones or in the car. For out and about I just sync playlists with my Watch (Galaxy Watch 7) and they work perfectly. I like that I can just ask it to play something and tell it where to play it and it just sorts it all out for me (with a bit of help from Home Assistant)

I feel like I'm due a parrot here, but open Spotify, choose an album, listen to it. If you want to listen to more than one album, add said albums to your queue or playlist.

I use Spotify every day, and go from my own playlists, to my choices of albums to the Spotify recommended playlists.

When I got phone with a decent sized SD card I ripped my entire CD collection to it and listed to music on my phone. However before that I used an Sony MP3 player. I suppose I should toss it out as being obsolete but still have it in a draw.

I do have a USB slot and didn't even think about a USB stick! What do you use to download the music and is it as simple as download songs onto your USB stick and then plug n play? It's a OEM h/u in a 2018 Golf, hopefully if it allows me to do the same that would great. thanks for the suggestion.

Well, yes if you have a PC. Dunno if you have a Mac.

Some of the older USB media players in cars won't like FLAC / lossless - they prefer MP3 (just in case you plug it in and it doesn't play).

Mac is too sophisticated for me smile

If it doesn't work...will just buy a cheap MP3 off Amazon and try that....

That's cool. How old is it? I have an original iPod shuffle 1GB. It still works after nineteen years.

following this thread, i'm getting very frustrated with my apple watch being buggy on runs etc, and now just had enough.

Also i'm starting to get annoyed with the new music reccomended to me, and feel like revisting my youth and just having a rotation of 50 albums on the device. One in, one out.

I wonder if a tipping point is goming where people start ripping music and tv again as the original benifits of convenience and reliability seem to be going backwards in my view
