Macbook Air with M4 released today. Good timing as I. was looking at a new device now
Been waiting for this for a while, but debating whether 1.3k on a laptop used purely for browsing PH and Youtube is worth it...

Keep saying I'll go for it soon but then my wallet tells me otherwise.
I had the same thoughts and held back on the M4 Macbook Pro's for that reason alone, plus the current Air was surviving. However I recently had to use it and it was dire, I ended up firing up the work laptop instead which kinda sealed the deal to buy a new one.
If I get the chance, might visit the local Apple store and see them in person first.

Software keynote: iOS 19 26, MacOS 16 26, etc.

Rumours of a new UI design for iOS and not to expect anything on the AI side this year.

No new hardware expected.

I see they have also enabled WhatsApp to work on your iPad now.
(Apologies if I’m late to the party with this)

That's great, saves me having to have WhatsApp web open as a browser tab. Always wondered why this wasn't possible when there's a Mac App for it too.

It’s great. They need to do an app for Line too.

The new UI looks terrible from a usability point of view. Can't see how this will make the final release without some ability to tone the glass effects down.

For those of you buying Macbook Air M4's which screen size do you go for?

Does the larger screen size of 15" make much of a difference over the 13"?

Definitely getting an Macbook Air M4 but just stuck on the screen size to choose...

15" all the way for me - came from a 13" MBA M1 and really glad I 'upped' the size

That’s got me thinking; I bought a 13” M3 MBA last year and I think it has 6 battery cycles on it, which shows you how little I have used it as my go to is my 11” M4 iPad Pro with keyboard. The reason I have a Mac is that there are some things the iPad can’t do and also require a bigger screen. I’m heading to the US in September and might pick up a 15” (and sell the 13) as it would be a better fit as it won’t be carrying it around. I’ve looked at them in the past and the 15 just feels so much bigger than the 13.

Thanks, I think 15" would be better for me than the 13".

Apart from the screen size, real estate advantage does the 15" have any other benefits over the 13"?

Does it have a bigger battery, better speakers, etc?

Just thinking as there is more space in the 15" for Apple to add something extra or is it just that the screen is bigger.

I have a 15" MBA which I hardly use. It's an M3.

Screen and speakers are noticeably worse than the MBP and I don't know whether it's the size but it seems a lot more 'flimsy' than the MBP.

I'd always plump for the Pro.

Cheers, I mean realistically I'm not sure there's much they could add which would make me need to upgrade for a long, long time.

This time I really wanted the nano screen as I have started to do a bit of work in the garden. That and I wanted black.

That’s one thing I really notice on my MBA when I switch from my iPad Pro. The MBA screen looks really washed out and choppy in comparison.

I think you really are spoilt by the screens on the latest iPads, they really are crisp and make everything else look poor despite being pretty good in their own right.

When I swap from my MBP to my office Studio with an LG screen it's a massive step backwards.
