"Adblocker for Youtube™", free from chrome web store. rolleyes

Works if you watch via the website, doubt it'll work if you've installed the YT app.

Didn't know it was a thing. Thanks.

Amusingly, after installation, it served me a page with an ad on it. Which another blocker blocked. They just cannot help themselves. biggrin

Been using it for years, works a treat until the odd occasion youtube catch up and stop it working. On the plus side it is normally fixed within hours.

try Brave browser then look into Shields and content filtering for YouTube, it probably will also help.

I just use Brave bowser. Can't remember the last time I had ads pop up on YouTube. Nothing to buy, download and install or subscribe to.

I vaguely recall that the DuckDuckGo browser offers an ad-free player but don't watch YT much.

I use Brave browser as well. It doesn't get rid of the presenter spending time telling us about the sponsor of the video.

I’m assuming there isn’t anything for TV’s (Samsung) ? We now tend to only watch YouTube and the frequency of ads are now frankly ridiculous.

So much so we watched channel 4 for the first time in a long time last night was a revelation!

Cheers - I assume I can't cast to it? The frustration with TV based apps is the nightmare of searching using the TV remote as a "keyboard"

A YT channel I subscribe to recently posted that YT had contacted them to say the placement of automatic ads will soon be changing. Apparently, a 30 mins video can currently get as many as 10 ads placed (which I can believe).

The message from YT was a bit vague as to whether this would result in more or fewer ads, though. Hopefully it's the latter, because watching YT via a TV app without the benefit of an ad blocker is now a painful experience.

Nice one! Side loaded on my Sheild with "Downloader" - linked to my YT account and blissfully ad-free on my TV now!
