Have you checked the screen setting? There are 3 settings, vibrant, standard and movie iirc.
Yup, and even on Vibrant everything still looks washed out.

No need. It seems to have cured itself, despite me not doing anything to it. Weird...

It's rather convoluted, which is my gripe with Android compared to iOS (where you'd just drag it to the dock and be done).

Assuming you have the standard TouchWiz launcher you need to go into it's settings and add an extra 'slot' into the 'dock'

Once you've done this find the icon for mail either from the app drawer or your home screen and press and hold until the phone vibrates, Then you can move it to the spare slot on the dock.

Moving the positions is a right ballache as the code to put one in-between two is very finickety so it's easier to move to a spare spot then move back.

Or just dump touchwiz launcher for something like golauncher which is so much easier and better.

Samsung make good hardware but the software leaves a little to be desired.

I'm sticking with 2.3.6 for now. I've tried 4.0.3 in its previous incarnation and the official one, judging by reports is no better than what I tried.

Besides I've got my phone setup how I like it.

I've tried many launchers, none allowed me to just dynamically add shortcuts to the dock, all required me to add an extra 'slot'

I've just tried with golauncher. Works fine. Even when replacing an existing shortcut confused

Can you get the phone into download mode? When phone is off, press volume down + home + power on - hold these down and it should go into download mode. If you can get into that, then the phone can be recovered. You'll need to install odin and find an image to flash your phone with... let us know if you can get into download mode.

Have you got a case? If so then yes they do. Out of a case it shouldn't.

yes only a thin rubber job though, I wouldn't want it without a case though it would certainly get broken !

Trust me it won't. Mine survived an accelerated 6 foot 5 drop to onto tarmac with only some scuffs on the body of the phone. A thin case isn't going to protect it.

A fix to the problem is (apparently) to put some tape over the tiny hole next to the headphone jack.

Just upgraded to Team ICSSGS RC4.2 and it's transformed the phone completely. Trying to find a lagfix for it now but there doesn't seem to be much about yet unless anyone knows otherwise?

This, the S2 is extremely difficult to hard brick apparently.

The jig probably doesnt work because you have a version of Android higher than 2.3.3. which means you can't use it as Samsung have wised up to people rooting the phone and reseting the counter after something goes wrong. Too many warranty claims i guess.

If you can get the phone on to an earlier version through Odin then you can use the jig, reset and then get it repaired without any questions.

They are hard to brick so as said earlier best to try and put it into download mode first.

Well, had this phone now for two days after coming from an htc desire, what do i think of it?IT'S SOOO SLOOWWW!!!!Cor blimey, cant believe im thinking of ending contract after looking forward to getting this phone so much.
First off, emails.Painfully slow!Go into the client, start freshing to get new emai,10 minutes later(well it was last night)it shows i have an email, but,it then starts to show 'loading messages'to even show me the content!!That went on for another 5 minutes so i gave up.
Android market, forget it,was slow on htc, impossible on this.Phone call quality, terrible! This was the biggest shocker, phoned my mate as soon as i got the phone,it sounded like he was in a cardboard box!(He isn,t homeless by the way the way,i can see his house from here!)he said same about my voice.
Good points? You can see all these faults on a lovely big screen!:-)The phones just slow in general compared to htc one, even locks up if you rush it?Dont really know what to go for now, sort of put me off smartphones now, think they just try to cram too much in?

Sounds like you got a dodgy one; mine is none of what you describe, and believe me, I've had most of them, including some of your beloved HTCs (which, Sense aside, generally are not great handsets, in my view).

How can it put you off smartphones? if you've only had it 2 days you're well within your 14day 'change your mind' option so just send it back and get something else?

I know what you mean about slow though, on paper it's fast, but in reality it's no faster than my old iPhone 3GS.
