I used easy battery saver on the old ROM (lite'ning) but have nothing on CM9 and not really noticing much of a difference. with fairly heavy use of everything - calls, texts, internet my phone lasts around 18 hours.

Must say the CM9 is brilliant. Much quicker than anything else I've tried.

Had my SII for a few months now, and there is really only one thing that pisses me off about the phone..... the noise reduction!

Anyone on the other end of the phone complains of bad feedback, especially if I have a protective case on. After a bit of forum searching I finally found out how to turn it off, but you can't turn it off completely, you have to do it on EVERY call. banghead

Another issue was the upgrade to ICS, I tried numerous times on my Macbook, but it kept failing. So I gave it a try on my Asus laptop and it worked first time.

Battery life has been pretty bad, normally getting below 20% in under 12hrs, but recently got a 3500mAh battery off ebay, so no problems now.

Finally the ICS upgrade appeared for my NFC enabled SGSII, so I upgraded this morning.

Now my exchange push email isn't working. Epic fail. :/

Anyone else experienced this?

My Dad has an SGSII and when I saw him on Sunday he said how could he get the ICS upgrade so I downloaded Kies to his laptop and set it working. Over 24 hours later it still said it was doing something so he gave up. ON disconnecting his phone the phone said it couldn't install because it only had 64mb space available but needed 3gb - this is available in the storage but not the phone memory. How do you get over this? Unfortunately I don't live particularly close to him so easy instructions would be really helpful so I can explain them by phone. The phone is as delivered from O2 with their add ons etc. if that makes a difference.

I got the ICS update last night over the air. My battery is woeful now!

I used to unplug it from charge around 8am and it would die around 6pm.

As I sit here now it is at 1% hehe

Oh well, My S3 should be arriving shortly!

Mine updated over the air too, and like yours the battery is terrible now, also it takes an age to charge.
Not impressed at all, i'd rather go back to what i had before, if that were easy to do.

Can he not just upgrade to ICS directly on the phone over wifi? I did this and it was only a 230Mb download iirc.

Well my exchange woes were sorted out by deleting both accounts and re-adding them again.

Battery life is now better than it was on Gingerbread. smile

Just done the nightly update and I seem to have lost the sound for my message notifications. It's all set up correctly as far as I can tell, it just doesn't make any noise. The call ringtone is working fine.

Anybody else found this?

Just installed the NOVA Launcher, my first launcher I installed and I must say I'm impressed, looks about 50x as nice as the default touchwiz. My guess is that Samsung downplays the ICS interface so the phone feels more like the lower end ones in terms of interface, very odd move imho.
Loving the launcher so far, no problems with widgets either, all of mine work.

I doubt it. I just think Samsung are relative newbies to designing smartphone UIs. In some ways I like TW but there is an awful lot to be desired too.

I personally prefer vanilla Android, which is why I am running CM9 on mine. Its not completely bug free, but its more than acceptable for day to day use.

...the best battery life... and I'm also bored with the colour scheme of ICS. Give me COLOURS!!
Take your pick, can't have both biggrin

I set a personal best with my SGS2 at Le Mans, making the standard battery last a full 3 days. smile

This includes making three phone calls from France and at least a dozen texts too so not just in standby. When not in use I put it in flight mode so it wasn't trying to find a network, and regularly cleared the RAM (I'm not convinced the latter made any difference but still). I also put the screen on minimum brightness and tried not to check it more than once an hour.

I actually forgot to use the built in power saving feature, so maybe I could have got more. I switched it off at night but I'm not entirely sure whether the power used shutting down and rebooting negates any savings made by powering off. There must be a crossover point.

Anybody got more than three days?

Not sure what the rules are regarding this, so please feel free to educate me if its out of line:

I've got a month old S2 (insurance claim replaced my old one), and wanting to switch phones. What is a fair price to ask, and would anyone want to make an offer before it goes to eBay or something?

Black? Sim free? It should fetch around £ 300. If you ask less than that it'll be gone sooner of course.
