I've also been following Merc leasing deals over the last few months and in Feb. coming up to March there was some stonking deals to be had, although not quite such great deals at the moment but this one caught my eye today http://www.gateway2lease.com/z_mercedes_slkclass_2...

Took all the figures from the net and let my local dealer have a look. They matched them and we pick one up next Friday.
Theresa the saleswoman at Northampton could not have been more helpful. A big thumbs up. My wife is very excited.

I went to 4 dealers and not 1 could come close to the deal I got, my deal is at least 2.5k pa cheaper than any other method of finance on new or used that I looked at and that was with very cheap 5.5% finance.........there are some stonking lease deals, i always buy but this deal is so good it was madness not to accept a 2 yr lease

I know there are always better deals but I was pleased with mine.
On the first visit to MB I was told the best deal they could do on a SLK 200 sport auto, metallic, leather, heated seats was just over 400 per month.
Once I had compiled some figures they offered me the same spec car but with the addition of parktronic for just 290 per month on a 3 +23 deal.
Like I said I am sure there are better deals but I believe in keeping things local whenever possible.
Plus the saleswomen was very helpful.
Never seen the wife so excited.

Yes that looks like you got a cracking deal well done always good to do prep work first so you don't get mugged on the finance deal.

How about a C200 CDI SE for 2k down and 199 a month - 24 month contract?

SLK was 2k down and 249 per month if I recall correctly.

Both in The Scotsman...not on their website

It'll need an A service at 12 mths and a B service and brake fuild change at 24mths. You can buy ServiceCare from MB to cover that for UKP30/mth which is a crap deal unless you have to use one of the London dealers.

You'll get spanked on return if the service history isn't complete.

This is who we used; but have ordered a SLK 250 CDi Auto with metalic paint for 6+23 for 250 per month inc vat. The local Merc dealer couldnt get close to this price, he said they had a steady stream of peple come through the door looking for them to match or better this offer but its a corporate offer that the retail guys cant offer.

The lady at the leasing company said they only make money on the 180 admin fee, not sure how true this is.

You done very well mate, how did you get them to do it at that price cause from their website the SLK 250 CDi Auto should be 256 + the vat

I'm currently engaged in litigation arising out of the administration of a big vehicle leasing company and, I have to say, the entire sector looks like a Ponzi scheme. What you need to understand is that your lease company does not own the vehicle, it leases it from a bigger or wholesale lessor, who may well in turn lease it from someone else and so on ad infinitum. It is all about cashflow which in turn is all about the admin fee (as someone has stated). The current ultra low prices don't surprise me. What will surprise me is if they're still around a year or two from now. It's good for us impoverished motorists, though.

You say that but very low leasing prices have been around for years in the US - some of the deals colleagues over there get are are astonishing.

My wife has also gone the C250 sport estate route , the deal was great as was the rate through MB finance
( being in the place for 4/5 hours I think they were pleased she did'nt have the leather off their shoes ! )
The biggest problem they had was finding a car which was in stock , found one with an option that she did not really care for , dealer picked up the phone to MB , option foc ! and we pick up the car next week .
looks like they are going all out for market share this March !

On a separate note , has anyone had experience of the plug & play Becker sat nav , looks on the surface to be a neat piece of kit , easy to install ? update maps ? any advice ?

Thanks in advance

My cheap Merc deal was 3 years ago, they're still around now too! I can't see a reason why MB would stop them unless they really start having an impact on general retail sales. From what I can see they are still too 'under the radar' for the great unwashed to be aware of how much of a saving can be made over retail prices.

I was staggered by how cheaply you can lease an E220 CDI or a SLK. I just cannot see how those deals are viable in the long run (from the leasing company's point of view). 6 x 23 at £250 is £7,250 but surely an E or a SLK depreciates by £15-20k in two years? Even taking into account massive discounting, I can't see how anyone can turn a profit. I hate leasing and finance and so on, but with these deals you'd be mad not to.

It's all about volume, and keeping the factories running at their most efficient. The cost of making a car is less than half its pre-VAT list price, so it's better to make and sell one cheap than leave a space on the production line.

The car factory arm of Mercedes doesn't give a toss about residuals.

finally caved yesterday and put a deposit on one smile

Mercedes dealers could not get close to the broker price

I went to two of my local dealers, one of which sent me a quote through and when I challenged the price said good luck with my searching. The other promised a test drive, but when I got there the car was penned in so couldn't get it out. Salesmen then got the price wrong on two seperate occasions and then did not bother to contact me. I did call the finance chap and tell him what I thought not that they would of taken any notice.

Coming from a BMW dealership that I use at the moment it was a complete and utter shambles. Have you ever thought when you walk in the place that you should just say you've changed your mind and walk out ? thats how I felt in the second dealers. I was sitting with a coffee and just didn't feel comfortable - took the afternoon off work as well which pissed me off..

I did not mention anything about internet deals or brokers and just that I would put down a deposit and sign before the end of March.
