Should it just work when left in auto, i.e. the full beam come on itself on a dark road with no oncoming traffic? I read the manual when I got the car but didn't pick that bit up 100%.
Yes but you have to push the stalk forward to engage HBA. It should then show a headlight symbol with an 'A' on the dash display.

Cheers. Will give it a try tonight.

I'll take that bet!! It works brilliantly (well at least mine does!).
Mine does also, when I first got the car I didn't trust it and would religiously check the dash to see that the blue full beam light went off when oncoming traffic approached but now trust it 100% thumbup

Picked up my new company car 2 weeks ago, already stuck 1200 miles on it.

C220 SE Exec estate

This new spec car came with the LED daytime running lights, sports grill and different wheels.

Got a few queries, don't know if anyone can help;
Does the audio 20 telephone system only show the names in the phone book via last name........ I remember 1st names, not last names.
Toward the end of the evening, The lights come on , the led running lights go off, but the interior dash lights don't come on till much later in the evening.
What do the little flags on the telephone system mean, and the 3 dots etc...
Got 54mpg on a 400 mile round trip today, will I get more once the engines run in?
Mine's got 31k on the clock now (C220 2011 facelift version) and the average is 54.3mpg with an average speed of 36mph

Forgot that the missus is away tonight with it so can't check, but this talk did remind me of THE best this about the car; the switch on dance that the ILS does. Never get bored of seeing it smile

You are, of course, correct and they do work just fine like that. Only slight grumble I'd have is that living in the country with the last mile or two on narrow lanes without any street lights, the full beam won't stay on through this as it picks up any reflections from Scotchlite on signs and dips the lights.

Just a quick update as this topic seems to have re-started smile

For various reasons, but mainly the amount of legroom behind my seat on the Merc, I ended up choosing a Skoda Superb SE with the 170BHP TDi engine and manual 'box.

I still see C Classes about and think how nice and special they look, but the Skudder seems to be a far more practical car for my needs, and is absolutely huge!! It's also extremely quick smile

I have a couple of gripes - as it's a 'saloon'of sorts it does not have a rear wiper, and also does not have DAB radio which would have been nice. It does have a very clever boot though and an on-board brolly smile
