Looking at ordering one of these myself in the coming week or so. The carbon centre console is still on restriction so will likely have to go for the gloss black frown

Did anyone get the opportunity to see the GLC43 model prior to buying or even take a test drive? I gave my details to dealer months ago but as usual they never get back to me. I suppose all cars allocated are sold so no point for them to make an effort (I was told they only had 3 cars available until end of 2016).

Mercedes Gatwick have one in the showroom at the minute but there are none in my area to test drive. I am being quoted a November delivery.

There are currently three demos up for sale according to the Mercedes used car locator - Swindon, Boston and Nottingham - so you should be able to get a test drive at one of those locations or their related dealerships.
Robinsons in Norwich have a demo which is going to be registered shortly. Both myself and the missus tried it yesterday on trade plates and were impressed.
I've booked an SQ5 for a trial run next week and will be interested to see how it compares...

"The carbon centre console is still on restriction so will likely have to go for the gloss black" .

I was advised by the Sales Exec that the gloss black scratches very easily - I think I'd go for the black ash in preference if the carbon fibre isn't available.

Do that. I also think the black ash looks better than the gloss black. And it scratches by looking at it. It's not fit for purpose.

Interesting and unusual to see that the 3 demo cars are all fairly low spec cars. No leather. Only one with premium plus package. No 360degree camera. One with stock wheels. Hmmm... Also, all show -60 time of 4.0 secs. It's not that fast!!

Hurrah....finally found a forum with some first hand and informed comment on the GLC 43 and particular thanks to jcx911.
I've been looking for a replacement for my much loved old X5 4.8iS for about a year. Wanted a fast petrol SUV (under 225g CO2) and probably mid rather than full-size. An X3 40i would have been ideal (or even a 35i!) but BMW UK (in its infinite wisdom) seems to restrict the high powered 4x4 models to diesel and an X5 50i is just a bit too big for me.
Looked at the F-Pace and Macan but for the spec I wanted they are £60k cars which I think is expensive with no discounts and toppy option pricing. A few other issues for me with both.
I really liked the GLC 43 but could find no reviews at all and had to build my own composite view based on C43 and GLC250. I can only assume that MB has not made any press cars available perhaps keeping powder dry for the Coupe.
Bit the bullet on Mon and have ordered -
Brilliant blue, leather,Premium Plus pack, 360 camera and carbon fibre console
Liked the 21 inch wheels but more comfort focused.
Got just under 10% discount and delivery mid-Nov.
Great comments here and very helpful.
Thanks

Interesting you were able to order the carbon? Who was this through?

Who did you use to get the discount? smile

I went through carfile.net - very helpful
I certainly wasn't told of any issues with the carbon fibre so will await developments.

I went to Mercedes Brentford to take a drive in a Hyacinth Red car, unfortunately when i got there the battery was flat. The sales guy got the car started by it was cutting out on the test drive due to low power in the battery so i didn't get a chance to drive it. Im going back next week for a drive when they sort the car, i'll report back once I've had a drive. From the brief experience there they exhaust noise is quite prominent, even in comfort.

Excellent news gobiman. 20" wheels are great for comfort if you want a better-looking car without giving up all comfort. I also think the running boards make the car look much meaner. Otherwise great spec.

Thanks. I decided to stick with the standard 19 inch wheels - which I quite like - in the interests of ride comfort and replacement cost. Interestingly, I thought the premium for the 21s was quite modest.
Also I'm going for a Q-car look (debadged) so I'd quite like it to look like a diesel to all but those who know. It's not just being understated, it will have to live on the street in London for some of the time.
Similarly, I like the look of the running boards but on my X5 they caught the back of trousers on exit. Also I do a lot of skiing and found roofbox access was easier on seats with an old towel.
Which reminds me I need to start a winter wheels hunt on ebay.de. Think it will have to be 19 to clear the brakes.

My short list is one of these or a Macan GTS which is a little over £10k more. Anyone driven both and can comment on how GLC stacks up especially given the lower price?

Nice. Good call. I like mine more and more every day.

Brilliant blue can be a bigger to keep clean. Just discovered CarPro Hydro2 as a spray on wash off sealant which works wonders. One week and 200+ miles later it's still clean and glossy.

Buy some as brilliant blue deserves it.

Thanks for the tip I will take a look!

Had a call from Mercedes and apparently they have run out of parts for the standard dash for the November builds so I am getting pushed back to December or maybe even January frown

Thanks for sharing.
Interesting on the delays and no great surprise with "just in time" approach with parts suppliers.
I'd better check with my order and will post here.

Really?!? Get the black ash, if you like it, or better still the carbon, as the shiny black plastic gets tiny scratches when the dust is wiped off with even the softest of microfibre cloths. I think it isn't fit for purpose and I've written the same to MBUK.
