Morning,

I've just been to my local Mercedes dealer to have my replacement 21" tyres changed, I've owned my GLC43 since December 2016.

Got there only to find out they only have the 2 fronts and thats all they have been instructed to fit from Mercedes UK, the tyres themselves are not MO approved and also i would have uneven tyre wear across front to rear.....

This is not only ridiculous but also amusing and the level of attention to the matter from mercedes uk is shocking.

has anyone else had there tyres changed and what have they been changed too and was it all 4 ?

My local Mercedes dealer has said i need to go back to mercedes uk and start the whole process once again!!

I will never ever buy another Mercedes branded car after this mornings event!!!!

I was actually amused and yes it is unbelievable but this whole thing has been from the start !

The Mercedes rep who was giving me the twaddle was digging himself and them a bigger hole upon each sentence..

This whole thing is not only appalling and shocking it's actually getting beyond the joke with there responses and opinions.

I will pursue the tyre change but I will never ever buy another Mercedes branded product..

You'd think they'd have there act together by now as they've had plenty time to consider there responses
I had the "crabbing " issues with my GLC until I finally had the original factory supplied run flats replaced free of charge by Mercedes Benz World at Brooklands.with Vredestein all weather tyres.

I am pleased to report no issues with the car since the complete tyre set change but it was a hard struggle to get there.

The only way I got the tyres in the end was by pursuing Mercedes direct , who in turn put pressure on my dealer.

Go on to Mercedes web page under contacts, complaints, follow them up , get a reference number and keep on top of them until you get your set of tyres replaced .

I am considering placing an order for a GLC43... I'm 95% of the way there but I'm really unsure about the red stitching all over the interior. Perhaps it's just the online pictures, but does anyone else feel it cheapens the car versus a plain black? It's actually making me consider spending less and going for a diesel.

Everyone that's sat in mine has remarked on how much they like the contrast of the red stitching and red seat belts, and imho I think it looks great and a nice change from the normally drab Germanic interiors.

Have put a deposit down on a GLC43 now. I've heard there are production issues/delays with the 3.0 V6? The spec I have gone for is...

GLC43 Premium Plus
Selenite Grey
360 camera
Carbon fibre/aluminium trim
Driver assistance package
Omission of red designo seatbelts
20" AMG alloys

I don't think there is anything that touches this for £50K. The SQ5 I considered but just didn't like the way it looks, although no doubt it is a nice car. I also drove a RR Velar but much preferred the GLC and being significantly cheaper for a better spec also swung it.

Bump for this. Now the temperature is starting to drop, how is everyone getting on with the tyres?

Mine seems fine so far, with the standard 19" wheels and non run flat tyres.
The only time that I have experienced any juddering was in a car park park with a very smooth concrete painted floor that was also wet from the rain.

Still loving the car after nearly 5 months though.

That sounds positive.

Anyone else have any feedback please?

I've got a GLC350d with 20" wheels with all season tyres(non runflat), and like gibbo it's only in multi storey car parks on full lock that it feels like it skips a tiny bit, for everything else it's been absolutely fine. I've been very impressed with it and it's my first Mercedes.

My McLaren skips on full lock when the tyres are cold so the crabbing issue isn't something that is going to bother me.

Hoping for delivery in 6-8 weeks.

Bit of a bump as my wife is very keen on a 43 and she wants the 21 inch wheels.

Does anyone know if Mercedes has made any mechanical improvements to resolve this issue on new vehicles or have they changed tyres to all weather? Or just done nothing and still waiting for people to complain?

I had a 718 S recently as a courtesy car and it crabbed on full lock in the multi storey. I could live with crabbing in these kind of limited cumstances but if it is every single T junction this could get wearing (sorry)

Thanks

Did the crabbing issue ever get resolved properly? one of these is on the list of potentials and have watched videos with great comments all the way.
Shame if there is still issues.

I did see something very recently about a redesigned suspension knuckle.

I thought the issue was to do with the diff in RHD models, although I've seen complaints from people in the US so apparently it's not a RHD specific issue.

Holy thread resurrection…..

Wife is looking to replace trusty 2011 BMW X5 X40d with something new....
Prefer to go petrol and down to Porsche Macan or GLC 43. Macan's hold their value really well so a 2-3 year old car with desirable spec is considerably more than a Premium Plus GLC 43 and she actually prefers the looks of the Merc.
So a few questions for you long-standing owners before we commit to the search...
1) MPG - expected real world figures.
Motorway journeys, steady 70-80mph?
Local driving?
2) Reliability? Appreciate most cars under warranty still but how have they been?
3) Extended warranty cost?
4) Tyre life, what should we expect best / worst case? She isn't an aggressive driver.
5) Any spec we should insist on?
6) Best ride quality on the 19" wheels? How do the larger 20, 21" fare?
7) Anything else you can offer as advice as we've not owned a Merc before so all info appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any replies.
