threesixty, where did the figure of 40 Clubsport cars come from for the UK ?

Has anyone got any more information on this model other than it is going to be lighter, more aerodynamic and faster ?

I have been advised by my dealer that the Clubsport is likely to be c£25,000 more than the GTR.

Does anyone have a confirmed order for a Clubsport ?
Came from my dealer, expectation is lighter, more aero, same engine power. I was told £30k more.

I have confirmed order for this car.

Everyone seems to be getting very excited and wound up over the apparent Clubport/RS40 GTR or whatever gimmicky handle they put on it. Let’s get one thing straight the only GTR worth waiting for if you can get one is the BS and as I said ages ago it WILL be about 630BHP and weigh between 1500 and 1600kg, Perspex rear window, couple of unsightly vents and a bit more carbon but worth buying due to the very limited numbers. We seem to be comparing Mercedes with Porsche now but although I hate to say it being a GTR owner there is no comparison. Mercedes are a mainstream car manufactures and Porsche are and always have been a top end sports car builder, not necessarily a Supercar maker but a car maker who’s models continually out perform the rest! Yes Mercedes have their cars, the 300SL and the SLR but the rest are great but that’s it. Porsche have cars from the year dot that are legendary and their price tags demonstrate, 356 and 500 Speedsters, RS2.7, CS3.2, 959’s, Porsche Carrera GT and all he GT2’s and 3’s that start out at little over standard cars but appreciate better than anything else that you can think of. If you bought a 911 GT3 six months ago for retail £130k ish you would sell it overnight now for £185k to £190k ish. A GTR with a good spec retails at £150 and there are and have been over a dozen with no miles on the trader around £165k and they are not selling. They are all brilliant cars and almost always out perform their drivers so buy what you like and don’t get confused and baffled by these journos who very often don’t know what they are talking about.
The blackseries is going to be very limited, its unlikely that any of us will get one. Seems logical to want the next best thing if you cant get what you really want doesnt it?

I still think your "spec" is total bks but we'll wait and see eh!

Delivery GT3’s are selling for £165-170k now, certainly coming down a fair bit.

But I totally agree that the GT R isn’t holding value as well.

Can anyone recommend a car transportation service? I want to take my GT R to the Highlands for a short road trip and don't have the time to drive all the way there and back! Thanks.

I have a Clubsport order confirmed too.

I am thinking that there must be far more than the 40 to the UK than has been mentioned.

Also a 17th March post mentioned the 40 had already sold out but I didn't order one until the last few weeks, so in April, so not sure they are all sold out or at least they weren't when I ordered mine.

I don't think the Clubsport will help the GTR prices but I suppose it depends on exactly how many there are.

Once I know how many there are, what the spec is and exactly how much they are I will then decide whether I will proceed with my order.

......or perhaps go the Renntech route !

Agreed! If there are too many then I’ll think twice.

I heard it was limited production so even if it’s 100 cars I’d go for it as Porsche are delivering prob that number on gen.2 GT3s.

I think GTR prices will hold pretty well as the club sport will be a pretty big premium over do won’t suit everyone’s pocket.

Sounds like every man and his dog is expecting to get one of these clubsports.

My dealer already admits that he's taken orders for 4 but expects to get 1 or 2.

I've been looking at the Renntech stuff but I think it looks a bit naff, especially the skirts and rear spoiler add-on. They are talking about rad guards though which would be great as mine are absolutely fked.

I had an order confirmation from my dealer in writing but perhaps they send this to everyone regardless.

I understood that there was an EU law that came in last year that prevents dealers from taking a deposit unless they can physically supply a car.

When you mention rad guards is this for either side ?

I see that Shmee had one of his rads punctured by a stone on the way down to Monaco and was leaking and couldn't be driven in case the gearbox overheated.

So are Renntech making some rad guards ? If not I might ask an engineering company to knock some up as it cannot be rocket science to fabricate some form of mesh grills that go in front of the rads, albeit it might be the fixing of them that is more difficult.

Surprised really that Merc sell an expensive car with such an apparent flaw and haven't come up with a fix for this.

Haha, tell that to Porsche!

Rad guards were mentioned by them on their Instagram as being in development. No idea why GTR doesn’t have them as the GTS does.

I wonder if the GTS guards will fit or can be adapted to fit the GTR ?

Might be tempted to order a set of GTS guards and try them or is the configuration at the front of the car considerably different on the GTS to the GTR ?

Seems like it. They took a refundable deposit pending confirmation of my allocation from boutique ordering. Got the confirmation a couple of days after deposit, so my money is locked in now, and hopefully my allocation too.

My dealer claims to know nothing of this car but has submitted a request to MBUK so we’ll see what happens next.

It just depends on dealer, some play the game correctly some don't.

I have friends that have placed deposits for GT Blackseries and their dealer has "confirmed" they're getting one. Anyone I speak to at head office tells me that's simply not the case and that dealers should not be doing that.

Yeah, absolutely. Credit to my dealer, they seem extremely clued up but also very transparent.

I, obviously, requested a BS allocation as well. They very directly told me it's unlikely, but they're happy to try and see where we go with it. Name is on the list, but they've not promised me an allocation at all.

I have a July build car on order, I would like to upgrade to the Clubsport, is there any firm confirmation regarding this model as my dealer say they have no such info and can’t delay the build nor change to an option not listed nor known to be coming from Mercedes Benz head office.
Any help regarding firm proof with this would be great
Also as it’s a July build would my impending car be a 2019 spec car ?
If no information comes to light Is there a way a build order be frozen ?

I have a GTR July delivery and a confirmed Clubsport (CS) order too.

I had been contemplating cancelling my GTR order for a CS instead but then if I didn't secure a CS, albeit I have supposedly got a confirmed order, I would then be gutted if I then couldn't get a GTR.

I am therefore still proceeding with my GTR and will decide in due course about the CS, i.e. whether it is that much different and whether it warrants a £25,000-£30,000 premium over the GTR. This will depend upon the numbers and how limited they are spec, performance, etc. I can then either buy it and keep it and sell either one or the other.

With timings you won't be able to upgrade from the GTR to the CS and I think your only option would be to cancel your GTR order, assuming you can and will get your deposit back or get the deposit transferred over to a CS, if of course you can be assured of getting one. As orders are "boutique", I am not convinced everyone that thinks they will get one actually will.

As I understand it the Clubsport details will be released by Mercedes in September with deliveries starting in March 2019, so you are probably in a similar situation to me.
