The term is actually a wasting asset and for your information over 90% of Supercar owners finance them to some extent, often to a large extent. Years ago I part owned a large dealership and I’m telling you that these so called ‘high end’ Supercar dealerships usually turn over more profit from finance commission than actually selling the car! This is why these blinkered dreamers tend to go to a dealer for an almost new GTR and pay £20 to £30k more rather-than buy one privately at a massively cheaper price. Anyone who’s tried selling a GTR privately will probably agree with me.

The question still remains then , why did you “just get out” of your 2nd GTR after only 1000 kms ?
Especially considered my you said you love it
And it’s your second one
Secondly Being in the business then why so upset a dealer told you he thought the cars would remain desirable showing a strong ROI?

As I said I sold the second GTR for something else, not because a of any issue with the car. Years ago I had a 911 Carrera 3.2 CS which I sold for something else and that was probably although slow by today’s standards one of the best drivers cars I have ever even driven, let alone owned. I wasn’t too upset at what the dealers said, I was merely saying that they are lying, bullstting people and can’t be trusted as to how many cars will be produced or what models are coming etc, having said that they don’t really know more than you and I. My guy on the Black series will be more accurate than any dealer in the UK, I guarantee, 1500kg, 625 to 640 BHP so let’s see!

Thanks for the intell on this. I had my dealer fit mesh screens on mine this week. I’ll upgrade when the retrofit becomes available.

My car was in for a campaign replacement for the rollbar. Anyone else get this?
Yeah mine has just had roll bar replacement. It's still complete st and I'd advice anyone against using the supplied harnesses.

My car is currently sat without rear brake pads since there is no stock globally but that's another story!

Eh, I mean, look, I can respect not wanting to lose a bunch of cash on the car, but really, you're talking breaking even or hell losing a few thousand after 6 months or so, which on an AMG Merc, isn't that bad at all.

I can, however, understand not wanting to lose £20k in 6 months. Doesn't look like that's happening with GT R's, though. So, rock on, Clubsport!

Unfortunately dealers are currently bidding £132 to £134k on a well optioned GTR retailing at 160k with under 1000 miles on the clock. Well over £20k minimum in 6 to 8 months!
If you don’t believe it give any of them a call and see. I appreciate you see them up at dealers for silly money but they are not selling.

Hello everyone.

New to the AMG family. I know I could be accused in the wrong topic but I am struggle to find out anything on the GTC, which is the one I am interested. Here is the closest topic I have been reading with an open eyes!!

Not exactly a Track demon, but I like it the fact that the GTC has the best of compromise. Anyone on here got one and want to share your views - anything like must have options, experience, running cost etc.

Read all the conversations about GTR holding value and depreciation etc. If I rock up to MB dealer, can I expect to have some discount - is 5% realistic? Given they are not shifting the GTR and the margin they are taking, if 10% achievable? Also do you know if they do factory pick up, I know Porsche used to (not sure if they still do) have an option flying you to Stuttgart and drive back via Eurotunnel with a cost of course.

Any feed back would be appreciated. Thank you in anticipation!

Cheers
W

They don't do factory pick up anymore. Try speccing a car through carwow.com. OK, it was a new C63 but I got 16% off without even trying.

The GTC has the rear wheel steering and a little less power but unless you're an out-and-out track person you're not going to notice the difference between this and a GT-R in day-to-day use I'd expect. I've driven both, GT-R on track and GTC on road and if I had my eyes closed I wouldn't have known (plus I would have crashed).

Hi Tuscan, the GTR and GTC are both absolutely superb cars and are much the same to drive. Having owned two GTR’s and a GTC, I would say that the GTC is a nicer car on the road in the real world. Unless you want it for track days and regular blasts to the Ring go for the GTC. You can easily pick up a superb well loaded pre Reg GTC with no miles from a Merc dealership for around £115k, a £20k saving on new which for one of the best convertible cars ever built which with a sub 4 to 60 and a top end banging on 200MPH must be a bargain!!
I would highly recommend NOT going to one of the so called ‘Specialist Supercar dealers’ like Romans or Amari who will take another 15 to 20k off you for the same car who are great at convincing people everything they have is so Rare and sought after!!

Thank you! Yeah I thought so. Let's face it, I certainly have not got Bottas's skill, let alone Hamilton's and 99.9% of the mileage would be on the public roads anyway. So the GTC would be my choice. First world problems, while the convertible is a nice idea, I actually prefer the styling and the look of the coupe. Been perving the web, they are hardly any coupes, except the ED50. Indeed as you said the so call supercar specialists are putting on a big mark up on top. Any views on the Coupes vs Convertibles?

One question for you folks is, is the AMG dynamic plus pack worth to have. Some Journalists and you tubers were raving about it. Given the capability of the car out of the box, I just wonder do we really need it?

Cheers!

I didn’t expect that!

Clear that Mercedes has Porsche square in their crosshairs. I like (and have owned) both and in the mid market the GT is the one I’d go for. Excited to see how the black series turns out and please Mercedes, don’t make a convertible version of it...

I knocked a dealer down from 165k to 153k but that was on a physical unregistered showroom car, not a pre order.

Yes, been speaking various dealer, Porsche, BMW, Jag, Merc. All of them seem to be keen on 10% off easily on a pre-reg stock cars. Not much room on a pre-order.

The GT R is looking a bit of an ugly sister when the E63 is putting out 40PS more for getting on for half the price

You really think buyers of the two models allow that 40PS to be the decisive factor? I didn't.

I'd say that's quite normal for a dealer to do a deal on a cancelled order or pre registered car. You've done well and what a car! Lead time still long.

I loved my GTR. Kept it just shy of a year as just sold it. Did 4000 miles and it gave me more smiles per mile than my previous 488 spider.

Waiting now for the GTR club sport to be officially announced asupposedly sometime this month and my order is in.

Enjoy yiur beast!

Sorry but no comparison. E63 is an awesome car like the M5 but is a saloon and obviously much cheaper. The GTR is a supercar. It has less depreciation than a Huracan, 488, 570 & 720S, can handle as well as those cars as well as getting as much admiration/ interest as cars twice the price........
