Ahoy. My wheels on my C63S have a couple of scuffs and marks. I have the blacks spoke/chrome rim design (see image). Now I've had a word with the likes of lepsons (who have done excellent work before) and another local wheel repair place, but they won't be able to do anything other than a full black coating, thus losing the silver rim and small AMG detail.

Does anyone know where I can get a more bespoke repair done?

Have you already enquired at a main dealer? I would assume it's a common problem for them to have to rectify.

Main dealers will just offer replacement, no other option other than walk away. Been through this with my local MB dealer after they said 3/4 wheels needed replacement. Being made of Putty they're unable to cope with the state of British roads sadly. Oh yes, and around £800 a corner to boot.

On a side note any tips how to keep the inside of wheel clean, poor finish and any wax coatings dont work just leave dirty brown marks behind when cleaning.

I note the original poster is based in the South.

I have used a company based in York called Direct Finish Ltd who are able to refurbish wheels such as yours.

Can't believe that there aren't similar businesses down in your neck of the woods....

They strip the wheels totally and then the face is diamond cut to remove the damage. The wheel is then repainted back to the original colour.

Sounds dramatic but I have had a couple of wheels done over the years.....both off AMG Mercedes......and have nothing but praise for the workmanship.

Cost was about £90 per wheel if I remember correctly.

Maybe they might be able to give some guidance........Google?

Good luck.

My wheels are identical and I have exactly the same issue with one. My local guy can't do it because he uses a lathe and my local MB dealer can't either. But I found a place near Oxford that will do it by hand - I can't get over there till mid April so at this point I can't vouch for their work. They are AHC Autos (Jayson)

This is really not the case. I have these wheels and the MB main dealer in Milton Keynes has refurbed them on site - they have their own machine (3 to be specific) due to my carelessness. Cost of around £100 each. And they're as good as new.

Very interesting. My two local dealers In SW London both said replace or try your luck in the wild. I might give Milton K a go, just to see what they say.

Cheers.

Rimstock in West Brom, W.Mids.

Local dealer used them for re-furbing Merc & Chrysler wheels at the time, believe they still do.

I've also used them personally for a set of silver & diamond cut alloys and would recommend them. I'll be using them again shortly as the lacquers peeling on my AMG alloys.

Diamond Cut in general doesn't have great longevity, depending on what you want a longer term, hassle free option would be to go one colour.

Try The wheels specialist.

These are a national company and have done work on my wheels just like you require.

The standard of their work is perfect or at least all the wheels I know that have been done are.
Thought I would get that in before someone decides to do the usual PH tradition of saying otherwise.

Another vote for the Wheel Specialist, had my Merc 19's done by them after a tyre fitter got a bit to friendly with them, now I buy Tyres and have them fitted at the WS so the rims survive

The responses to this are a total nonsense - apart from the guy in Oxford that does it by hand. The fact is the AMG wheels have an inset rim and the AMG is raised in the inset. The minute you tamper with the rim you end up ruining one of the limited features of the car. The responses are nonsense for these rims - there is no MB machine that will sort these rims. Normal ones, yes.. all day long. 507 rims... no chance!... By the way!.. My Mrs has done 3 of my 4 rims... does anyone have an actual solution to this!? MB want £3k for a new set of rims!

Some wheel refurbishment companies will have a crack at refurbing those style wheels with the diamond cut lip, and i've personally seen wheels following refurbishment including that very style of AMG wheel.

They go over it again with a diamond cutting lathe. It can only be done if it's light damage for obvious reasons. However, all the ones i have seen following refurbishment are obviously then left with the lip being slightly lower than the spokes. Looks fine from a distance, but is noticeable up close if you have a good look at them.

I just had 2 x 19" AMG diamond-cut wheels repaired by SV Wraps in Chessington. The price was exceptional (best I found) and the job was spot on, too.

Hm I live not too far away and I have a couple of the same AMG wheels in need of repair. smile

What kind of refurb did they do? Cut? Powder coating?
