Hi

I wonder if someone out there with a current widescreen 'ipad' command system in the latest E class can help me with something

When you connect an iPhone via Bluetooth (not wired)

And go to Search your media

I can't remember the exact words used but it's something like

My iPhone > All Media > Album > Tracks > click to play
or what i'm more interested in
My iPhone > All Media > Podcast > list of series > list of episodes > click to play
My iPhone > All Media > Podcast > Audiobooks > click to play

Now whilst something is playing one can click next / prev track/episode

BUT

Is there anyway to get back to the list of tracks/episodes WITHOUT having to start again from Search ? i.e. I want to work my way back UP the tree rather than have to come top down again

Thanks in advance

Does the return arrow not allow for this?

I don't have music on my phone so can't really test this function but I have the return key on the centre console and also the ones on the steering wheel, probably the left one, which I thought would let you return in stages. It certainly works this way in the conventional menus.

Thanks for taking the time to reply

I only had a very brief test as it was nit my car

From memory back did not seem to do anything when on the audi play screen or if it did it just brought up the search etc top menu

It does not matter so much for music but im a big podcast and audiobook listener and there you do want to navigate the tree from where you are

Thanks

I've had my E220d Estate for a couple of week now. It doesn't have COMMAND but I can tell you how to get want you need.

If you're listening to track in 'Media' you can get back to 'Search' for tracks by Album, Artist, Gentre, Playlist etc by doing the following:

Pull the twisty whizzwheel towards the rear of the car. This will display a menu on the bottom of the display. 'Search' is one of the options - job done!

Out of interest, I downloaded my iTunes on to a 64GB USB memory stick and this works a treat - no need for an external device to be connected as such. The stick was about £20 :-)

Thanks for the reply

Yes I can load podcasts on to USB/SD but by their nature they are updated weekly and not static like music is

It sounds from your instructions on the twiddle thingy (!) that it takes you to the Search again which is at the top of the tree

I did notice on the Command system there was a 'current tracks' option but this only seemed to list real tracks from the last album played and did not list episodes of the currently playing podcast series which would be more useful

It does take you to the Search field but it will continue to play whatever you were listening to whilst you search.

if you just want to skip to the next track, just move the whizzy wheel directly towards the right.

I'm not sure if music tracks are different to podcasts, I'd be surprised - it's just buckets of data, right?

Thanks

Yes the next/prev track will give you next/previous podcast episode

It's just if you want to go to another podcast series or Album/Genre etc you have to start at the top search again rather than go up one, scroll and select again

This is how VW group ones work (all be-it without a scroll wheel)

I just wanted to make sure I was not missing something

I understand.

I've not tried this, but what happens if you shift the whizz wheel towards the front of the car?

I'll try it tomorrow when I'm next driving...
