Hi
I'm looking at the current model E class. From what I can find on the web the lengths of corresponding models should be identical whether saloon or estate ie e43 amg estate length is the same as e43 amg saloon length.

However a number of online reviews have remarked that the e class estate is quite a long car to deal with around town but none of the reviews have said the same about the saloon.

This has got me wondering whether the estate is indeed actually longer?

Could anybody settle this for me?

Thanks

The saloons aren't all the same length. The estates vary too, but apart from the SE, they're all a bit longer then the saloons.

E.g. :

The brochure says the E43 saloon is 4,942 mm long

The AMG E63 S estate is 5,000 mm long. So 58 mm / 2.3 inches more.

The SE estate is 4,933 mm long.

No, I'm not sure that they are actually. Beati is correct in saying that the different models have varying lengths.

A e63 amg saloon is longer than an SE trim saloon model. An e63 amg estate is longer than a SE estate

But I suspect that within the subclasses ie comparing a saloon and estate of say e43 amg trim they are the same length give or take say a few mm

Here is a link to a 2013 w212 brochure from MBUSA. It shows that although the wheelbases are the same the estates are a whopping 1inch longer than the saloons.
