So in the market for a new car and on my list is a C43 estate.

I was just wondering if anyone has one, what are their thoughts on it, what packages are a must.

Has anyone had it serviced and are you looking at expensive service costs with it being under the amg brand?

Thanks
Richard

It's worth looking into the service plan pricing - they run discounted deals occasionally too - so keep an eye out. I believe the first service (10k mile) is circa £400 on these. So definitely cheaper than the C63 or beefier AMG machinery but still badge-gougey.

I had a C43 coupe and i was impressed with it. I went carbon interior as the black interior isn't great imo. I liked the sound from the exhaust but its not everyones cup of tea. I did find the crabbing annoying but the amount of times it would occur means its not a huge issue.

Got a new C43 estate a couple of weeks ago and I’m really pleased with it so far. It’s genuinely quick and the power seems very usable – so much so I sometimes think my 997 would struggle to keep up. It’s also very comfortable and a nice place to sit on long trips. Option-wise, I kept it pretty simple:

  • Premium pack (not premium plus). CarPlay was a must for me so “plus” was out. Only regret there is that I couldn’t order Burmester audio, but the standard sound seems OK and would order this again.
  • Standard 18” 5-spoke wheels, not 19”. Would definitely do again – am personally not a fan of 19’s.
  • Leather seats (pale grey). Would definitely get these again – they really lift the interior.
I went for the Mercedes Service Plan and costs for the C43 are £35 a month, assuming <15k miles/year. That’s in-line with other C-Classes, not AMGs (e.g. C63 is £45 a month).

Crabbing has been a complete non-issue for me so far - I don’t think it happens with the tyres they now ship on the car (Potenzas).

Thanks duttonst sounds really feedback. My only worry is the crabbing so when i go in i'm going to ask them a lot about it.

Yes that is useful. I must say I am keen on the car too. I am torn between a new M4 discounted price £54800 or a C43 Coupe discounted to 45k. That is a big difference in price. I know people will say they are not the same car but its the two I am considering.

The crabbing is putting me off too. I wonder if it does it more on 19's than 18's. If it did I could save another £600 by having standard wheels.

I have emailed Mercedes Poole who I met with yesterday, they haven't responded yet

My spec is here on the configurator

I've wondered this too. Also the 18's use normal tyres whereas the 19's come with run-flats, which could be another factor.

To be honest I really wasn't bothered by the whole crabbing thing - most of my Porsches have "crabbed" and I've never seen it as a big deal. However so far I haven't had the slightest judder on my C43 so it really has been a non-issue.

The Porsches I have had only did it at near stationary but the clips on you tube on the GLC are the car going round corners at 10mph plus, now that would be off putting.

Also, what is Command like without carplay. Just normal bluetooth connection like all other cars without carplay?

With or without COMAND you get USB, Bluetooth, DAB etc. Both will let you access the internet and use TomTom traffic with the satnav. As I understand it:
  • COMAND gets you a bigger screen, Mercedes satnav, and online functions (e.g. check your car is locked using an app on your phone or start the car remotely).
  • Without COMAND you get Garmin satnav instead (comes on an SD card) and the option to add a "Smartphone Package", which means you get the option for CarPlay & Android Auto (e.g. Waze) when you plug a phone in.
Personally I couldn't care less about the online stuff but I'd rather not be locked into the Merc satnav updates in the future so CarPlay/Android Auto were a no-brainer for me.

...which is doubly a shame as Mercedes UK seem to have locked people into the 'Premium' or 'Premium Plus' packs, whereas in a lot of other countries you can order the upgrades individually.

My plan was to look at aftermarket options for this. The jury is still out though, the Audio 20 sounds more tolerable than I was expecting and I think I'll try living with it for a while before splashing out.

Nice spec and a decent discount too, I specced up a C43 Saloon to almost exactly the same price as your Coupe configuration. However when I loaded it onto Carwow for an idea on discounts, the offers I got were in the region of 3-4k rather than the 7-8k that it seems you've managed.

Could you let me know who you've dealt with? Do you know if there are higher discounts available on Coupe rather than Saloon models?

Apologies for sliding off on slight tangent here OP.

Not to worry my original post is finished as i've decided to get a 340i touring instead as the discounts are about 9k off at the moment.

I am moving from a 340i Touring (mine will be for sale) to a C43 or M4, cant decide yet although they are different cars.

So discount wise there was an error on the 45k quote I got , surprise, surprise.

Anyway a couple of points, be careful on the Merc configurator as it doesn't include on the road costs which in the C43's case is an additional £1515

"The recommended on-the-road price includes the Road Fund Licence applicable to the standard model £800 plus delivery charge (£635.00 incl. VAT), new vehicle registration fee (£55.00) and number plates (£25.00 incl. VAT) = Total £1515

The next thing is quote wise I have tried drivethedeal, car wow, uk car broker, broker4cars and broadspeed but the best deal was with Coast2Coast cars which is £6289.40 off list so the car I configured comes out at £47620.
