Production delay for new E Class
Discussion
MB Sheffield seem ahead of the game here in preparing potential owners for the misery of waiting
I popped in recently and gave my details on arrival to the receptionist who said a salesperson would be right with me to help my E Class itch
When I went back to her at 10, 15 and 20 minutes she said they were all busy and it would be "soon"
At 25 minutes waiting as the only member of the public in the showroom and hugely outnumbered by staff in the open plan area chatting to each other or staring at computer screens I decided I probably wasnt going to be a MB kind of person
If they treat you like this when you're looking to get in one of their 40k cars what chance do you have with a warranty hassle??
Cheers

I’m being sent a C63S estate to use until mine arrives. Pleased with that.
I have one of those and they are little hot rods, it will be fun to compare the two. I found however that the E not only is much more refined it is also another level in terms of being unhinged (its much faster)

As far as I’m aware they are checking over the whole car, hence why it takes bloody forever.
I’m being called tomorrow with a list of cars I can have until mine arrives.
Assuming the world doesn't end I should be picking mine up next Friday. It's taking the truck company 6 days to move the car 130 miles...because of course it would take longer than necessary.I’m being called tomorrow with a list of cars I can have until mine arrives.
I was also told the reason mine got produced 3 months late and took 3 weeks to produce was due to QC checks, which is probably the most conflicted set of emotions I've felt from ordering a car. You want it as soon as possible but you're also glad they are going over everything with a fine toothed comb to minimize post-delivery issues. Glad they at least got you in something to tide you over until it shows up.

Are they saving money by pushing the truck? That’s nuts. Good news re your car though. Hopefully mine will arrive before the 2021 model is released.

The courtesy car arrived this morning. Great fun, and the very definition of fully loaded. Well done MB. I found however that the E not only is much more refined it is also another level in terms of being unhinged (its much faster)

I had a similar experience when I was looking to buy my E class last year. Despite the poor service from Sales I did purchase a car (but not from my local dealer). Since then I have had a few warranty issues and have found the service side of the operation exceptional and cannot fault the way I have been dealt with. It is a shame the sales side of things is so poor as it must lose a lot of customers. I've just received the following from the dealer who was supplying my E63s, ordered in October 2017, due for delivery on March 1st:
"Hi Andrew,
I hope you are doing well.
The E63s has arrived and looking great if you still wish to have it.
On the other hand, would you like to put your name down on an AMG GT 4 door?"
Hopefully yours will be along soon E63S.

You have to give them credit for trying. If you order a GT 4 door you might get it before I get mine!! "Hi Andrew,

Did you ever get your deposit back?
Well. It arrived, I completed all the paperwork remotely and my XPEL protection film guy is working as we speak. Can't pick it up until Friday regardless, but at least the end is near. Saw on mbworld that some dealers are trying to get some bites on '19 orders and are telling customers there are no delays...won't they be disappointed.
Hi all, I have just joined as I have seen this (pretty worrying) thread. I ordered my E63s estate on the 10th April and they have told me that it finished build last Tuesday the 8th and it will be with the dealer on the 22nd with delivery around 29th
Obviously based on this thread that seems remarkable but the only thing they told me was the night pack (That I originally wanted) would delay it until at least August.
Based on what they told me I have arranged insurance, put my plate on retention so I guess I am asking, how likely are significant delays now and have recent orders been better?

It depends whether you ordered carbon brakes too. I took delivery Friday of a car that was scheduled for build the first 10 days of Jan.Obviously based on this thread that seems remarkable but the only thing they told me was the night pack (That I originally wanted) would delay it until at least August.
