Production delay for new E Class
Discussion
Quick update from my side:
Car is with my parents in SW France and my mum kindly took it to the local dealer for the 1500mile diff oil change. I told her it was either free (like in the UK) or it would be a minimum amount (€50). Well they charged her €360
Looking at the invoice they have charged €100 for a new temperature sensor (which should not be replaced per advice from my Merc Dealer in Germany) and €97 for glue. I now have an argument with the service manager in French. I think they are either:
a) Completely incompetent
b) Taking advantage of my Mum
Probably a mixture of both. Another first world problem and I know its not a huge amount of money, but its the principle to be honest.

A little bit of a, and an awful lot of b. Pesky French. Car is with my parents in SW France and my mum kindly took it to the local dealer for the 1500mile diff oil change. I told her it was either free (like in the UK) or it would be a minimum amount (€50). Well they charged her €360

Latest update: The proposed date of 28/05 for the car to be on ferry is now not going to happen. Basically, I have been told that the next update they can give me is when the car reaches the UK, and is in the hands of Mercedes UK logistics (who apparently they have greater control over, and who are actually able and willing to communicate). However, they can’t tell me when that might be.
It’s a complete joke.

Mine was supposed to arrive on the 22nd but I am now told 31st. I am getting lots of reassurance and frequent updates from across MB not just the UK. but, because of the experiences on here etc. I have real doubts. It’s a complete joke.

Today's update has raised expectations... The car arrived at 8.30 this morning at the port in Purfleet. They are still expecting it on the 31st.. If it all falls into place that will be just over 6 weeks from placing the order, which is much better than I was expecting.. Graveworm said:

How did you order your car, did you use a service such as Carwow? Not posted anywhere for a while as I’ve been so pissed off with Mercedes fking Benz. I’m now on week 43, and my car has supposedly been in Zeebrugge for 14 weeks now.
Anyway, I just received an email from my dealer, and he’s said he’s expecting to be able to give me good news tomorrow. Maybe they’ve finally fished my car out of the North Sea?

Told end of September (2018...). That's a wait of 10 months for an E-class. In the meantime I found a very nice BMW and I am starting to think that the M5 performance coming soon might be the wiser choice. There has to be some hick-up in the MB supply chain for this to get so bad and out of control.
Hells tooth !!
Nice evening and my son was over so decided to take my stock E63s out and run it against my 458 spider... neck and neck but then the 63 pulled away ! I was amazed, I knew the 63 might hold it up to a certain speed but never thought for a minute that it would pull away albeit slowly...
And I’ve got the 63 booked in for a remap and delimit tomorrow.
The mind boggles, what a car !
