Hi

I have a 2003 ML270cdi with 162k on the clock, had since new and been pretty good so far. The car is suffering from power loss, struggles to go much above 50mph and there is a loud hissing / whooshing type noise on acceleration. There is also a smell of fumes when you start up but this does not seem to be noticeable at any other time. The acceleration up to 50 varies from feeling quite normal to struggling at walking pace, also this morning it revved very high before changing gear which it does not normally do.

The car had a similar power loss a year ago and replaced the MAF which fixed things then, also had one of the injectors sorted a couple of weeks ago as was smelling fumes in the cabin at standstill.

The car is booked at the garage for Tuesday but any thoughts appreciated!

Cheers

Phil

Thanks, do you know if that is straightforward or a tricky job?

Looks like it was a blocked exhaust, removed centre cat and seems to be back to normal now.....
