while cleaning my 98 SL500 at the weekend, I found this spring in the rear footwell. Does anyone recognise it or have any ideas where it might have come from?

Not sure but looks like a lock, latch or catch of some sort.

Is everything working ok, boot lock, fuel filler flap or maybe rear light cluster catch?
