I think you managed to sum up AMG ownership quite well there! Glad you like it. For me, it’s an occasion each and every time I drive it. And that makes it special, very special.

On the ride front, check the tire pressures. Dealer will typically pump them to the recommended pressures in the fuel flap. But these are way too high. Look in the driver door frame for the other little sticker. This will have the correct ones. Odd they have two, but one is for maximum fuel economy and the other is for better rise. Mine were at 40 PSI or something and it was harsh as hell. But dropped them to 32 and 30 and it rides better.

It’s no limo, but so much better and not as frequent to step out as much. Can’t wait to get off the Dunlop’s on mine. So loud and nasty. Great grip but take time to warm up and make way too much noise. Michelin’s here we come.

Thanks I will check tyre pressures as you suggest. One thing that I have noticed is that comfort mode, the car doesn't feel that responsive, powerful or willing to move, is that just me?? It does feel a bit vague and floaty and seems quite reluctant to get going...my S4 from stand still was always quite nippy and responsive in normal Drive mode...or is this because i have been driving the AMG in manual / sport+ a lot and then the contrast to comfort seems very obvious....??

I was thinking of doing the Brookland AMG C63 experience, to learn the limits of the car in the wet etc, anyone done this, is it worthwhile to get a better understanding of such a beast, especially in the wet!?

You shouldn’t notice a difference in power with comfort mode. I don’t in mine. I did the complimentary AMG day at Brooklands when I took delivery of mine. Definitely worth it, was a great experience and you’ll get a chance to find the limits quickly.

ah ok, i bought my car used, so didn't get the day offered, am i missing out on something!? It's £225 for the hour by the look of it, and seems to be a good way to learn the car, handy when it rains, which tbh i am slightly apprehensive about

Unless your driving with a lot of progress then U.K. weather will never give you any concern.

No driving course will give you the situation where you come over a crest into an off camber corner with standing water - that’s fun NOT - that happened to me with the family in the S Max wasn’t even doing. 45mph but totally aquaplaning for what felt like eternity and sterling into the direction of the movement.
It also finest teach you how to deal with differing road surfaces specifically damaged roads and part patched where grip levels are constantly different and different on either side of the axle.

Also no one drifts cars like you see stop Gear or second do. That’s only for making the shows more fun. Likewise no one does donuts Or rear burnouts whilst holding the breaks on fully seeing the discs glow red then white hot. Down “da endz “ you might have someone do it in a stolen car but no one else.

They are great cars for sure. Every time I drive mine, it's like an event and not just a means of getting from A to B. I'm now a year into ownership, and I still go out just for kicks sometimes.

There are other, similar experiences like https://www.carlimits.com for example. They'll have you using your own car though so you need to factor in the cost of tyres/brakes so when you consider you'll be using the equivalent of your own car - supplied by MB - and using their consumables instead of your own, the costs don't seem so bad smile

Plus I assume the “test driver” hops in first and goes wild burnouts hanging the engine on the limiter etc.

Epic. I’ve somehow managed to buy a C63s coupe, facelift and am chopping my 2017 C63 coupe in for it on Monday. Can’t wait.

The more I drive the car the more I feel comfort is a little bit odd. Sudden downchanges or keeping the car is very high gears when going super slowly, not a bad gearbox but not as razor sharp as the S4 - all adds to the character

Insightful chaps thank you.

I am looking into one of these in a big way at the moment - sold on looks, interior & performance - less so on economy obvs! What’s the REAL WORLD mpg like REALLY?...don’t mind taking a hit when having a play, but would be good to know what that mpg figure becomes when in captain sensible mode. thumbup

Around town they’re abysmal as you might expect but on a motorway journey you can see 30mpg if you’re cruising. My 2019 with the 9-speed box got 34mpg on the drive back down south after collection. Ok it was probably the dullest drive I’ll ever do in that car but still.

Given a see 38-42mpg in my day in day out driving the f10 535d (£ aside to buy it) I’m struggling to see any downsides... ok the rear on the estate is a bit of a let down as in not as aggressive as it could be & 5£3 E63 5.5 V8 bi Turbo generally gets air cooled front seats / more spec for the same but in on the used market.

Thanks Playalistic - sounds like it can play the long distance cruiser reasonably well (and the published figures not completely fictitious!) then thumbup
