So, I had a little 'moment' yesterday which really shows what a beast / different drive it is to what I am used to! Trying to overtake at the last minute, up hill, only going around 30mph, i sharply pulled out and floored the throttle, the back stepped out immediately, maybe only 15/20 degrees, but was enough to shock me, traction control i think, snapped me back in line, i lifted off the throttle immediately, so combination of these things corrected the car...? anyway, it was a wake up call, the car is a monster and can't be driven like my other cars. The half day driver training at Brooklands could be a good idea, anyone done that, it's £1200 which isn't cheap! I have to add, I had been zipping about in my 911 Turbo before going tout in the C63, so my mindset was in 4wd mode, you can take such liberties when cornering, overtaking in the Porsche, the C63 feels like you have to be much more considered in what you are about to do!
Think of the throttle like a lady and you’ve a desire for love making - you don’t simply slash it in it’s not an on or off switch

20 degrees is some angle your lucky you didn’t slap the kerb on the other side of the road that would have caused huge damage to the wheel and drivetrain + suspension.

Yes it doesn't have the dame razor sharp steering, response as my 911, i am glad i learned the easy way, maybe 20 degrees is a bit much, maybe 10 degrees, but enough to really feel the back had come out! I shall take it much easier now.

Good thread, as I’m looking for a C63 estate.

OP, how are you finding the standard exhaust ? Is it loud enough to give the full AMG experience ? I’m struggling to find an estate, in the spec I want with the performance exhaust.

The exhaust is quite incredible, I did read so many posts about the AMG sound, but living with it daily I can tell you it's amazing. In comfort you can't really hear it that loudly, especially whilst cruising at motorway speeds. But low speed maneuverers are my favourite, it growls and snarls loudly, very very incredible sound, like no other car i have heard. Then in Sport+ it bangs and pops and crackles on downshifts, that is very addictive indeed. I love the Jekyll and hide character of the C63. I just drove back from South Wales, 33mpg, perfect motorway cruiser, handled perfectly in the rain, no loss of traction, then dry back roads, into manual, and revving the V8, crackles and bangs, and so much pace.... utterly love it!! I too would have ticked the box for sports exhaust, but the car I have is my perfect spec, low milage, and main dealer, so had to have it, and do not regret it at all. Here's a pic next to my other toy, i feel a very lucky boy smile

Thanks Dank, certainly got a tasty garage. Need to test drive one I guess.

How loud is the cold start, I had an M4, which was quite ASBO on the cold start !

Luke.

How does the performance compare?

Exhaust is a lovely loud bark on all starts. That’s is a fantastic sound and then growls and snarls, it’s not asbo loud at all, but is much louder than normal cars, people where I live say they can hear me start up in the morning but they don’t think it’s intrusive.

Performance on both cars is very different. On paper the AMG is as quick but in reality it doesn’t feel it. The 911 turbo is instant and explosive when accelerating and very nimble and light in comparison. The AMG is a brute and picks up pace rapidly but not as instant as the 911. You are always aware of the sheer size of it, the 911 is tiny in comparison. My 911 is manual and is a superb drive, I have had it nearly 8 years and won’t be selling ever. Both very different but great in their own rights. I do love the drama of the AMG or as I now call it, the beast. Get one

How much is the warranty p.a.? Think I saw someone mention £2,700 earlier in the thread?!

That’s a big step up from my M135i warranty!

Grateful if someone could confirm.

Thanks

Any one got into one of these lately?

Fancying a facelift wagon as a new daily but so few around.

Ideally a low miler 19 plate car for c£50k what’s not to like!!

Is S guise really necessary for a daily?

I’ve a facelift S coupe and previously a non-S pre-facelift coupe. The differences between S and standard spec narrowed a bit with the facelift so don’t worry too much about finding a good non-S car. Facelifts are a fair bit quieter than the pre-facelift thanks to the OPF so try both back to back if that’s going to bother you.

It’s the pre (I think 16 reg) it’s bloody loud everywhere which is a joy.

It’s only not a joy when I’m off to the station for work at 5:30am when it clearly wakes the street + I let it idle for a minute before pulling away from habit of 25 years of driving.

With it being a daily I’m very happy to have a slightly more subdued amount of volume and understand the facelift is still good in this department?

Would be coming from a x3 40i so sure it would sound mega in comparison (although the Beamer sounds quite nice)

Contemplating my next car after the XFR.
Is there a significant difference between the facelift C63 Estate, which I think is 2018 compared to previous models? There is a quite a big price difference...

Grill - personally (vested interest) prefer PRE
Is the dash/infotainment a step more modern?
Soft limiter?
Did it have the 9 speed gear box vs the 7?
Does the update get an improved secondary battery (capacitor)

I think there is if you like tech. Having driven both I would take the <2018 all day. The digital dash does nothing for me and I wasn’t a fan of the fake sound.
