Discounted one of these in 2018 due to the tyre issue and crabbing so got an M4.
Have they eliminated this now ? If so, how?

The crabbing in my LHD GLC43 doesn't worry me too much, my Q7 and my Cayenne did the same but not to the the extent of the Merc (2018).

It's the bloody awful gearbox that drives me nuts, economy mode is dull, comfort it judders, sport it jerks and sport plus breaks your neck from 1st to 2nd and sounds like the gearbox will self implode at any second. Merc say its normal, it cant be. Other than that I like the car but I wont be having another. I miss the Cayenne although I don't have the need for such a size of vehicle now so I will probably go for something a little different.

i have had crabbing on my C300 but only during cold weather. i believe this is an issue with the Run Flat Continental ContiSportContact R19 tyres when they are stone cold. I've seen videos on youtube where owners have replaced them with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres and the crabbing has disappeared when cold.

Hoping all of you knowledgeable C43 enthusiasts can help me with a couple of queries.

So, i'm on the verge of ordering a brand spanking new C43 + bells and whistle, excluding AMG Performance Seats and AMG Carbon Package Exterior II (as i dont really care for either),

Been hearing some murmurs that this could be the V6 fitted before the move to 4 cylinders and new tech...anyone heard similar?

BUT top of my list is how the V6 sounds, and on this i have been scratching my head as all the UK reviews say there is an Performance Exhaust "option" but it is not in the configurator...or does the facelifted C43 come with it as standard? If not standard, then wondering if MB have cut some options, the Covid effect, to get cars out quicker when building resumes.

Lastly, driving assistance package, yay or nay? i've avoided on the last three MBs, only cos you lose 90% of the cost in the first 3 years. But i'm thinking of keeping this car beyond, as a garage car for when the mood hits.
When you say sound, do you mean V8? Surely you'd want a C63 for sound? V6's have never really stirred much emotion the way a V8 does.

Get driving assistance.

i meant the exhaust note. Managed to get an answer to my question on the performance exhaust. Thankfully it now comes as standard on the C43 AMG . RESULT!

Car ordered today, every option except Performance Seats & Carbon Package. Got a cracking deal to boot. So, super excited...roll on October and bring on my 70 plate,

Congratulations, you must have deep pockets. biggrin
I never noticed you saying which body style you have chosen, also I assume it will be a Premium Plus model?
My personal preference is the Coupe, but we are all different. smile

Certainly will be a very impressive car when you get it.....it's going to be a long wait though.
The coupe is definitely(IMO) the nicest looking model in the C Class range, but I wonder if we also agree on colour.
I would choose Brilliant Blue if it was my car, what have you went for?
One thing I think is quite mean of Mercedes is that they make you pay extra for the distance keeping function with cruise control. This is a standard feature on many cars(some much cheaper) and very useful it is too, but Mercedes only seem to include it with the optional Driving Assistance package.
Granted this pack includes other features too, but most I am not bothered about.

I didn't get driving assistance on my C63 and I looked into getting it retrofitted. Can't be done on the facelift but even then it's £££. So the £1600 is a bit of a bargain really, not sure why you wouldn't at that price.

Blue looks pants imo hehe goes to show, we're all different!

Get a 19/20 set of wheels with some wider rubber on the back. The 10.5j can take a 305, I've gone for 295 then put the the 19 rears on the front for a 265 with a spacer.

I love the performance seats too, even though they've been using them since 2014 in the A45! Still a great seat, but the standard ones look shoite! That will hurt on resale. Again, we're all different I guess, though I feel for your poor taste hehe

I suppose you could apply that logic that if you are buying a £60k car then whats another £1700......but honestly the only thing worth having(for me) in the Driving Assisantance package is what Mercedes call "Distronic proximity control".......the other features range from not interested to downright irritating!

Yeah we are all different, but I would'nt have it any other way. biggrin
Speaking of blue paint.....the colour of my current Audi S3 is not only the nicest blue, but the nicest car colour I've ever owned. cool

If it hurts on resale so be it. But for the time that I intend to own it, I’d rather my backside had a little comfort. Promised the Mrs a road trip on the NC500 next spring, and who needs a Mrs complaining about the lack of padding for over the course of the 500 miles or even the journey to get up there and back. Not me! Also adding performance seats IMHO is very boy racer. There is a sophisticated elegance to be had with the standard seats considering the bulk of the car

As colours go. I have absolutely LOVED my current C300 coupe in Brilliant Blue. I rarely go for the same colour again but would’ve considering IF the C43 came standard with painted callipers. But I have had a change of heart over the weekend and will be amending my order to selenite grey with cranberry red leather. I was deferred from it initially when I saw a BMW with red leather and so how badly BMW got the red colour garishly wrong.

As a C205 owner my BIGGEST aesthetic gripe, after having had an iridium silver W205 with a full panoramic roof, is the body coloured portion of the roof behind the C205 pano, and That MB only maintained the seamless look from windshield edge to front end of the pano. Would highly recommend it to anyone that owns a Coupe, wrap the portion of roof in black vinyl. It creates an amazing effect front to back. So many coupe owners have followed me into car parks to come up to me ask how I got the Front to back pano roof 😆.

My gripe with the C43 is no panamericana grille. COME ON MB!!!! an AMG is an AMG, why create a us and them situation 🤔

I’ve had HUDs on all my C-Class over the last 6 years and I will be with out it. And thankfully the AMGs come with more HUD visuals than you get on the standard models. No speeding tickets in the last 6 years either (touch wood).

Yes a long wait but considering this is the last of 6+ cylinder V engines in the reasonably priced range of MB AMGs (thanks Euro regulations 😡), the wait will most definitely be worth it.

MB just got it right with the C205, and that needs to be recognised. BMW and Audi needs to wake up from the 10+ year hibernation with its interior design, yes a car should look amazing from the outside, but on an hour long commute to work how much time do get to spend looking at the exterior? all 205s ooze an elegance whether it’s a C180 or a C63s.

Absolutely agree.....I buy a car that suits me and for me to enjoy for however long I own it......resale is of little concern at time of purchase.

I think the answer to this is all about money. I agree the C43 is a proper AMG but it is quite a bit cheaper and less powerful than the C63. Now while I'm sure 43 owners would be delighted with a standard panamericana grille, 63 owners would not like it and Mercedes know this.
It is exactly the same situatiuon with the A/CLA 35 vs 45 models.

Regarding interiors.....I think that the current C Class has one of the best in the business, and undoubtedly the best in its class.

So I take it from the posts above the crabbing has gone away on the facelift cars from 2018?

Did Mercedes change the tyres used at the factory to eradicate this? It really put me off a 2017 car when I drove it last winter.

Have you got the c300d amg line? Had a go for several hundred motorway miles last week..... awesome bit of kit, the 500nm torque from slow motorway traffic for overtaking was great....trouble was it liked to cruise at 90mph on tickover
