I am running it in but it is an improvement on the old one
It is very very quick and the gearbox is better
I went with adaptive dampening and limited slip diff and it rides well
It sounds better as well
So I am in heaven another 400 miles then I will be able to really test it
As well i will get some better pictures the red looks great

Father in laws 1.8K.. just done the Mot work on it and painted a replacement rear bumper ( fitted parking sensors too )

Next job is to sort the oil leak
A quick google and we appear to have the famous cam sensors leaking
Plus Vacuum pump leaking

Some genuinely lovely cars in this thread. Here's a few pictures of ours.

My 2003 E320 CDI, 111k on the clock, still very tidy and a thoroughly nice car to own.

My 2007 CLS63 AMG, under 18k on the clock and well it's a 6.2 V8, love it!

Finally, my other half bought a 2006 SL350 which she's been using daily, has just under 75k on the clock.

Cracking collection you've got there Alex, I hadn't realised that the earlier E class 320's still had the straight six in them.

Thanks chap. The E does indeed have the straight site engine and I must say it's a great engine. Will return 50mpg on a steady run but has so much torque.

Admittedly the 5 speed auto box is not as smooth as the 7 speed in the other two but it's plenty refined enough for what it is.

My daily. Great machine. Won't be around for long, sadly.

I'm just pleased I met one of my heroes and was not disappointed.

No idea why the pic is upside down - any help appreciated!

Wonderful, looks like new.

What's the story behind you buying it?

Looks lovely.

I just take a screengrab and turn it upside down!

Give us some more details and someone here might want it.

Lots of reasons really.

The TR3a is a 40 time International concours winner, which we do drive to events and covers around 1000 miles per year.

But........there are lots of days when we want to drive out in a 'nice' car without the need to spend days cleaning it after every trip!

The Mercedes is a 'Modern Classic' that we can use more frequently without worrying (too much) where we park it, or if the weather is not so good. - The TR3a does not get driven in the wet unless absolutely necessary!

Having looked at a LOT of cars, we decided that the cost of bringing them up to 'standard' was going to be very expensive and time consuming, so we bought this one from the 'SL SHOP'............Top money, but for a Top car!

Other reason (for both cars), was as an investment. - My pension used to be a 'paper document' with little growth...........I simply converted the 'conventional' portfolio into nice cars.

We now get to enjoy using (and simply looking at) the pension, which is much more fun biggrinbiggrin

Looks great - and welcome!

Post that on the Barge 1-5 thread; they love these cars over there, especially in Beryl Blue.
