Thanks.
Yeah, E63 still here but seriously considering selling both it and the Range Rover to consolidate with something like a ML or GLE63 at the moment as I'm running out of parking spaces.
I think you'd soon get bored with those. I'm selling the 911, want back into an AMG just not sure which one. Not a fan of the new 63. Yep, I was on the MB stand in the front row, got there early as I had to leave by lunchtime for a 70th birthday bash. What did you think of the event overall? I thought it was less attended than previous years and that the format needs a bit of updating!biggsjfp said:

I'd agree that it felt like numbers were lower although I guess the weather didn't help. The MB stand wasn't well-placed I don't think, and it would be better over the bridge closer to the Village Green area. I enjoyed it overall, but I agree that it's beginning to feel a little stale.
Recently purchased my first Mercedes – also the first Mercedes I have ever driven.
It came from a friend who just happened to be selling it at the time I was looking for a convertible/rag top/roadster.
I know almost nothing about the marque (and even less about the SLK…) but I think it is very, very cute.
V6 engine (sounds like the Scimitar GTE I had years ago) and a slick automatic gearbox.
For a 17 year-old motor it is in very presentable condition (it’s the youngest car I own).

I hope you enjoy that Plinth. I've never driven an SLK but I understand they're decent little things.
Thanks, CdG, really enjoying my first venture into the world of Mercedes.(Should have done it years ago!)
The SLK is an appealing package – compact dimensions (I am crap at parking), clever folding roof and enough zip when you need to overtake.
Ok, it’s not a “roughty-toughty, billy big balls, powerfully built and dominating” sportscar.
Indeed, my gender was questioned in another thread…but hey, I am in touch with my feminine side!
The only worrying aspect is that my interest in MB products has been sparked – I may end up having to follow chaps like yourself and 0a into the world of the classic Mercedes…must get more parking space…
Just bought this a bit of a project, all works and is completely rust free/ low mileage but unfortunately would nearly qualify for the badly modified car thread! its complete with amg badges and drl's but luckily allways fully serviced and well maintained. Just lacking in taste!
Definitely a great base vehicle though so will be put completely back to original as its a 93 300.
Should look great once again

Doesn't look like it will be too hard to get back to looking civilised once again. That will be a great colour to clay bar and polish up again, all the solid merc colours of that era are. Definitely a great base vehicle though so will be put completely back to original as its a 93 300.

I think these should have proper ambers on a K plate? My 1991 model looks so much better with them. Flog the wheels and replace with some nice original SL ones and you could make a profit.
Do start a reader ride thread and post lots of photos of your progress!
