Greg - take a look at my "Travelling up to BNG" thread.

I'm trying to get a group meeting place set up.

Which side of York will you be?

hey Al, I´m flying over for BNG! dedication or what! having missed PF I felt my attendance was mandatory and besides, I can´t wait to regale you with tales of doing 155mph and experiencing a violent crosswind followed by a rapid deceleration and excavation of bowels....hmmmm perhaps not but it´ll be good to catch up with you guys and providing I can get hold of something in rear wheel drive from hertz the car park will be hosting a spectacle

Staying as in "hotel" I presume? Sorry, thought you might have friends up in York who you were visiting. Right, we'll figure out the best place for you to tag on with us so we don't have to come into the centre of town.

TOM!!!! You utter UTTER TW*T!!!!
I've just seen where you are... the word jealous has not even thought to cross my mind... but yes, I would like to hear all about your trip down and how the locals get their heads round yet another "one of those wierd eeengleesh cars that av veeery loud ow you say it, tail pips"

Al,
Is there any kind of program for Saturday that would help people deceide arrival time. Self and MrsS are going up in both cars, taking the hound in the Chim. If we knew what time things kicked off properly, it may help with the convoy thing.

Gemini, you can answer this too....and there's no need to be abusive in your response cos it is already posted, they don't call me Daftlad for nothing.

Greg - unfortunately "morning" still leaves quite a large margin for error... and we can cock things up given even the slimmest of margins!

In view of the lack of any additional input, I suppose I'll aim to get there for Noon, so will be trundling around York about 11.30.

If you want I can meet you north of town at the junction of the York ring road (A1237) with the B1363 Sutton & Huby road.

Anyone else wants to join in let me know, I will be going to York via A1/A64.

Perfect, works for me. AA recons abt 40 mins from York - so you'll be there abt 1100!?

<<Added: The junction is 3.14 miles from hotel(6 minutes), still have time for breakfast!>>

I'll mail you my mobile number.

As Daftlad suggested how about meeting at say 10:30 at the Holiday Inn express on the A1036 about a mile into York off the A64. This is where we met for bucket & spade.

We could then travel via Strensall, Bulmer, Slingsby to pick up the B1257 to Helmsley

A 10:45 departure would then get us there well before midday.

Cannot get the post code but the multimap location is here

Web Address: www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?lat=53.9871&lon=-1.0255&scale=25000&icon=x [edit]Note the little circle is not in the right place but its close[/edit]

The holiday inn is at the PH on the A1036. I cannot remember the name of the pub, I will have a look tonight and post the name of the pub tomorrow.
